FLUSHING & WATER TREATMENT TECHNICIAN

Qualifications:

• Must have several years of experience in flushing and water treatment or a similar mechanical services role.
• Must have practical experience with BSRIA-standard flushing procedures or relevant equivalent practices.
• Must possess strong knowledge of mechanical services systems.
• Must be able to read and interpret HVAC drawings, technical specifications, and equipment documentation.
• Must have a technical or vocational background relevant to the position.
• Must have hands-on maintenance and repair experience.
• Must be able to read technical manuals and follow established procedures.
• Formal training in HVAC commissioning or mechanical services is preferred but not essential.
• Must have strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Must have good verbal and written communication skills, including technical report writing.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Must hold a valid driver’s licence, as travel to project sites is required.
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Must demonstrate attention to detail, good organisational skills, and a commitment to safety and quality.
• A qualification in building services, mechanical engineering, or an equivalent field is preferred.
• Typically, at least 3 years of construction site experience.

Responsibilities:

• Carry out flushing and cleaning of pipework systems in accordance with project requirements and applicable BSRIA procedures.
• Inspect mechanical services and HVAC pipework systems to identify contamination, blockages, defects, and performance issues.
• Review HVAC drawings, technical specifications, and project documentation before commencing flushing and commissioning activities.
• Prepare flushing plans, work procedures, and test documentation in line with project requirements.
• Perform water treatment activities in accordance with approved procedures and project specifications.
• Monitor flushing and water treatment progress and report defects or issues that may affect system performance.
• Troubleshoot problems encountered during flushing, water treatment, and related system-balancing activities.
• Conduct inspections and tests to verify that pipework systems meet the required cleanliness and commissioning standards.
• Perform preventive maintenance, basic repairs, and other assigned mechanical services tasks.
• Prepare accurate commissioning reports, flushing records, test results, and technical documentation.
• Ensure that test data complies with project specifications and relevant industry standards.
• Read equipment manuals and follow technical instructions and established work procedures.
• Assist other technical departments when required.
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, project managers, and client representatives at project sites.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety, and quality, including the safe handling of water treatment chemicals and equipment.
• Complete assigned tasks on time and report work progress to the appropriate supervisor.
