Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of working experience as a Floor Finisher or in a related flooring installation and finishing position.
- Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in a relevant or similar field.
- Must have a valid passport.
- Must have relevant work experience in the same field.
- Practical experience in floor preparation, installation, sanding, polishing, refinishing, and repair.
- Knowledge of preparing wood, concrete, tile, and other flooring surfaces for installation or finishing.
- Skilled in measuring, cutting, laying, trimming, and fitting various flooring materials.
- Experience working with wood flooring, tiles, carpet, vinyl, and other floor coverings.
- Ability to operate floor-finishing equipment such as drum sanders, edgers, buffers, polishers, and related machinery.
- Knowledge of applying stains, sealers, varnishes, polyurethane, epoxy coatings, and other flooring finishes.
- Ability to identify and repair cracks, gaps, scratches, uneven surfaces, and other flooring imperfections.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing smooth, level, even, and high-quality finishes.
- Good understanding of proper drying, curing, sanding, polishing, and finishing procedures.
- Ability to safely handle flooring materials, chemicals, coatings, tools, and machinery.
- Good knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures and proper PPE use.
- Physically fit and capable of performing flooring work involving prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, lifting, and manual handling.
- Good practical problem-solving and technical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, hardworking, disciplined, and safety-conscious.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect floors, subfloors, and existing surfaces to determine the appropriate preparation, repair, installation, and finishing requirements.
- Clean, scrape, level, and sand wooden floors, subfloors, concrete, and other surfaces to remove dirt, old finishes, rough areas, and imperfections.
- Prepare surfaces properly before applying stains, sealers, varnishes, polyurethane, epoxy, or other finishing products.
- Measure floor areas accurately and calculate the required quantity of flooring materials and finishing products.
- Measure, cut, and install flooring materials such as wood planks, tiles, carpet, vinyl, and other floor coverings according to project specifications.
- Lay flooring materials accurately while maintaining proper spacing, alignment, patterns, and orientation.
- Trim flooring materials precisely around walls, corners, doorways, fixtures, columns, and other obstacles.
- Operate drum sanders, edgers, floor buffers, polishers, grinders, and other specialized flooring equipment safely and effectively.
- Adjust sanding and polishing equipment according to the type and condition of the flooring surface.
- Perform multiple stages of sanding and polishing to achieve a smooth, even, and properly prepared surface.
- Apply stains and other finishes using brushes, rollers, spray equipment, or other appropriate application methods.
- Apply sealers, varnish, polyurethane, epoxy coatings, and other protective finishes evenly and according to manufacturer or project requirements.
- Allow appropriate drying and curing periods between coats and perform additional applications when required.
- Fill gaps, joints, holes, scratches, and imperfections in wooden floors using appropriate wood fillers and repair materials.
- Patch cracks, chips, uneven areas, and damaged sections of concrete or tile surfaces.
- Repair or replace damaged flooring materials when necessary.
- Inspect completed flooring for smoothness, evenness, color consistency, proper adhesion, surface quality, and overall appearance.
- Perform touch-ups, additional sanding, polishing, or refinishing when defects or imperfections are identified.
- Protect completed flooring from damage during and after installation or finishing work.
- Maintain and clean sanding machines, buffers, polishers, cutting tools, spray equipment, and other flooring tools.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment and report damaged or defective machinery to the supervisor.
- Handle flooring materials, chemicals, coatings, and equipment safely and according to workplace procedures.
- Follow project schedules and complete assigned flooring work within required timeframes.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the project.
- Follow workplace health and safety requirements and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
- Coordinate with supervisors, builders, carpenters, painters, tilers, and other trades to ensure efficient project completion.
- Perform other flooring installation, repair, sanding, polishing, and finishing duties assigned by management.
