Financial Controller
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as CPA, CMA, or ACCA is required.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting or finance.
- At least 3 years of managerial or supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, taxation, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, treasury management, and internal controls.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience using accounting software such as MYOB, Xero, or similar financial systems.
- Familiarity with ERP systems is highly advantageous.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership, team management, and people development capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to speak Mandarin and Bahasa is preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and meet strict deadlines.
Responsibilities:
- Finance Department Operations
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department to ensure efficient and accurate financial processes.
- Ensure all financial data inputs, outputs, and accounting processes produce accurate financial statements and management reports.
- Develop, implement, and enforce company financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Supervise finance personnel and maintain high standards of financial stewardship, ethics, and accountability.
- Financial Management and Compliance
- Prepare and review accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Manage the financial closing process, including reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, taxation laws, legal requirements, and regulatory obligations.
- Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors during statutory and financial audits.
- Oversee payroll processing and financial transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Administer loan agreements and maintain strong relationships with banks and financial institutions.
- Budgeting and Financial Planning
- Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with department heads.
- Monitor financial performance against approved budgets and provide detailed variance analyses.
- Develop financial forecasts, business models, and scenario analyses to support strategic planning and informed decision-making.
- Provide recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
- Internal Controls and Risk Management
- Design, implement, and monitor effective internal control systems to safeguard company assets.
- Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Enforce policies that reduce fraud and strengthen financial governance.
- Review accounting processes regularly and implement best practices for continuous improvement.
- Cash Flow and Treasury Management
- Manage company cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for operational and capital requirements.
- Oversee treasury functions, including banking relationships, investments, and debt management.
- Optimize working capital and capital structure.
- Identify cost-saving initiatives and improve financial efficiency across the organization.
- Leadership and Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance and accounting team.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching, training, and professional development opportunities.
- Foster a collaborative, ethical, and results-oriented work environment.
- Coordinate with the Human Resources department on workforce planning and staffing requirements.
- Financial Strategy and Business Support
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors and executive management to develop and execute the company’s financial strategy.
- Provide financial analysis and business insights to support strategic initiatives and investment decisions.
- Act as a trusted advisor to department heads on budgeting, financial planning, and operational performance.
- Lead the selection, implementation, and optimization of financial systems, including ERP solutions.
- Utilize technology and financial reporting tools to improve operational efficiency and decision-making.
- General Responsibilities
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
- Be willing to work at other company locations as required by operational needs.
Requirements:
- Must have a valid passport for more than 3 years
- Employment certificates
- NBI clearance valid for at least 1 year with “no derogatory / no record on file” remarks
- PEOS certificate
