Excavator Operator
Qualifications:
- Relevant technical or vocational training in heavy equipment operation is preferred.
- Proven work experience operating excavators in construction, quarrying, earthmoving, or industrial environments.
- Experience in quarry or cement plant operations is an advantage.
- Ability to operate excavators safely for digging, loading, excavation, and material-handling activities.
- Knowledge of excavator controls, attachments, operating limits, and basic equipment functions.
- Familiarity with pre-operation inspections and routine operator-level maintenance.
- Ability to recognize equipment abnormalities and report mechanical problems promptly.
- Understanding of workplace safety, excavation hazards, site traffic rules, and equipment operating procedures.
- Ability to follow instructions, work plans, hand signals, and directions from supervisors or spotters.
- Good spatial awareness, coordination, concentration, and judgment when operating heavy equipment.
- Ability to work effectively with other operators, truck drivers, and ground personnel.
- Physically fit to work in an outdoor or industrial environment that may involve heat, dust, noise, and changing ground conditions.
- Responsible, reliable, and committed to safe equipment operation.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, or holidays as required by the employer.
- Willingness to comply with company policies, equipment procedures, and workplace safety standards in Saudi Arabia.
- Must possess any operator certification or driving authorization required by the employer and applicable regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Operate excavators safely and efficiently for excavation, digging, loading, grading, and earthmoving activities.
- Perform excavation work according to site requirements, work instructions, and designated operating areas.
- Load soil, rocks, aggregates, and other materials into dump trucks or designated loading areas.
- Assist with quarrying, stockpile management, material handling, and site preparation activities as assigned.
- Excavate trenches, foundations, drainage channels, and other required areas according to approved plans and instructions.
- Operate excavator attachments and accessories appropriate to the assigned task.
- Follow signals and instructions from supervisors, spotters, and other authorized site personnel.
- Inspect the excavator before and after each shift to ensure it is in safe working condition.
- Check engine oil, hydraulic fluid, coolant, fuel, tracks, tires where applicable, and other essential equipment components.
- Monitor hydraulic systems, hoses, cylinders, bucket attachments, and controls for leaks, damage, or abnormal operation.
- Identify equipment defects, unusual noises, warning indicators, and other potential mechanical problems.
- Report equipment malfunctions and maintenance requirements promptly to the supervisor.
- Perform routine operator-level maintenance and cleaning according to company procedures.
- Maintain accurate equipment inspection checklists, operating hours, and daily activity records.
- Follow approved procedures for starting, operating, parking, and shutting down the excavator.
- Maintain awareness of workers, vehicles, underground utilities, overhead power lines, and other site hazards.
- Observe safe distances from excavation edges, slopes, trenches, and unstable ground.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with site traffic management rules.
- Ensure excavated materials are placed in designated areas and handled according to site requirements.
- Coordinate with dump truck drivers, equipment operators, survey personnel, and ground workers to maintain efficient workflow.
- Follow equipment load limits, safe lifting practices, and manufacturer operating instructions.
- Maintain a clean and organized operating area and help prevent damage to nearby structures, utilities, and equipment.
- Stop operations and report unsafe conditions whenever hazards may affect personnel or equipment.
- Perform other equipment operation and earthmoving duties assigned by management.
