P.T Dunia is seeking a highly experienced Drilling Fluid Engineer (Mud Engineer) to support geothermal drilling operations in Taiwan. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, testing, monitoring, and optimization of drilling fluid systems to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective drilling operations while maintaining well integrity and compliance with industry standards.
DRILLING FLUID ENGINEER (MUD ENGINEER)
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 25 years of relevant work experience as a Drilling Fluid Engineer (Mud Engineer) in geothermal, oil and gas, or drilling operations is required.
- Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s / College Degree in Petroleum/Oil/Gas Engineering or a related engineering field.
- Must hold a valid IWCF Level 4 or IADC Supervisor Well Control Certificate.
- Experience with Drillmec drilling rigs and geothermal drilling projects is mandatory.
- Strong knowledge of drilling fluid design, well control, drilling hydraulics, ECD management, and wellbore stability.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical reporting skills.
- Ability to work effectively in demanding drilling environments while maintaining the highest safety and operational standards.
Responsibilities:
- Design, test, monitor, and manage drilling fluid (mud) systems throughout geothermal drilling operations.
- Monitor and adjust mud weight, viscosity, and other drilling fluid properties to control downhole pressure, prevent fluid influx, and manage Equivalent Circulating Density (ECD) to minimize the risk of formation fractures.
- Optimize drilling fluid rheology to ensure efficient removal of drill cuttings while providing effective cooling and lubrication for the drill string and Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA).
- Conduct routine testing and analysis of drilling fluid properties and implement corrective treatments as required.
- Monitor drilling performance and provide technical recommendations to improve efficiency, wellbore stability, and drilling safety.
- Ensure drilling fluid operations comply with project specifications, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
- Coordinate with drilling supervisors, rig personnel, and engineering teams to resolve drilling fluid-related issues.
- Prepare technical reports, daily drilling fluid records, and performance analyses to support project operations.
