DIESEL GENERATOR TECHNICIAN

Qualifications:

• Technical Diploma in Mechanics, Mechanical Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in various maintenance works.
• Relevant experience in diesel generator maintenance, mechanical equipment maintenance, or machinery servicing is preferred.
• Knowledge of diesel engines, generator sets, and mechanical systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and mechanical diagnostic skills.
• Ability to perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Skilled in using mechanical hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to inspect, repair, replace, and adjust mechanical components.
• Able to read and follow technical manuals and maintenance procedures.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Able to work independently and respond to equipment breakdowns when required.
• Physically fit and capable of performing maintenance duties.

Responsibilities:

• Inspect diesel generator sets and related mechanical components to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Perform preventive maintenance according to established schedules and manufacturer recommendations.
• Troubleshoot generator problems and identify mechanical and operational faults.
• Diagnose engine, cooling, lubrication, fuel, exhaust, and other mechanical system issues.
• Repair, replace, and adjust defective or worn generator components.
• Perform routine servicing, including oil changes, filter replacement, lubrication, and fluid-level checks.
• Inspect belts, hoses, batteries, connections, cooling systems, and other generator components.
• Check generator operating conditions and monitor engine performance.
• Conduct testing after repairs or maintenance to ensure generators operate properly.
• Assist with the installation, commissioning, and servicing of generator sets when required.
• Respond to generator breakdowns and perform corrective maintenance promptly.
• Use appropriate diagnostic tools, mechanical tools, and testing equipment safely.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, and replaced parts.
• Follow technical manuals, maintenance procedures, work instructions, and safety requirements.
• Coordinate with supervisors and other maintenance personnel regarding equipment problems and repair requirements.
• Maintain tools, spare parts, equipment, and work areas in good condition.
• Follow workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures.
• Report major equipment faults, safety hazards, and maintenance requirements to supervisors.
• Perform other diesel generator and mechanical maintenance duties assigned by management.
