We are seeking an experienced and qualified Diesel Generator Technician to install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain diesel generator sets and their associated mechanical and electrical systems. The successful candidate will ensure reliable generator performance by carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance while adhering to company standards and safety regulations.
DIESEL GENERATOR TECHNICIAN
Qualifications:
- Must hold a Technical Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in diesel generator maintenance, repair, and servicing.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, generator systems, fuel systems, cooling systems, and electrical controls.
- Experience in preventive and corrective maintenance of industrial diesel generators.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical equipment failures efficiently.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.
- Familiarity with generator testing procedures and maintenance best practices.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Physically fit and capable of working in industrial and field environments while following safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain diesel generator sets and auxiliary equipment.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on diesel engines, alternators, control panels, cooling systems, and fuel systems.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate testing and diagnostic equipment.
- Repair or replace defective generator components to restore equipment to optimal operating condition.
- Conduct routine performance testing and load testing of diesel generators.
- Monitor generator operation and maintain accurate maintenance and service records.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
- Ensure compliance with workplace health, safety, and environmental regulations during maintenance activities.
- Maintain cleanliness of the work area and ensure proper handling of tools and equipment.
- Perform other maintenance duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Project Engineer.
