Chemical Analyst
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, subject to the employer’s requirements.
- Relevant experience in chemical analysis, laboratory testing, or industrial quality control is preferred.
- Experience in a cement manufacturing plant or construction materials laboratory is an advantage.
- Knowledge of chemical analysis techniques, laboratory procedures, and sample preparation.
- Understanding of cement manufacturing processes, including raw material processing, clinker production, and cement grinding, is an advantage.
- Familiarity with cement chemical composition, quality parameters, and applicable testing standards.
- Experience operating laboratory analytical instruments and testing equipment.
- Knowledge of wet chemical analysis, titration, and instrumental analysis techniques.
- Familiarity with X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis is an advantage.
- Ability to prepare chemical solutions, perform laboratory calculations, and interpret analytical results accurately.
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment calibration, quality assurance, and proper documentation procedures.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and consistency.
- Ability to identify unusual results and report deviations from established specifications.
- Knowledge of chemical safety, proper reagent handling, and laboratory waste management.
- Good communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with laboratory, quality control, and production teams.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct chemical analyses of raw materials, clinker, cement, and other materials used in cement manufacturing.
- Collect, receive, identify, label, and prepare samples for laboratory testing.
- Perform routine and specialized chemical tests according to approved laboratory procedures.
- Determine the chemical composition of samples and verify compliance with product specifications.
- Prepare chemical reagents, standard solutions, and testing materials as required.
- Operate laboratory instruments and analytical equipment to obtain accurate and reliable results.
- Assist in performing X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and other instrumental analyses, where applicable.
- Conduct wet chemical analysis, titration, and other laboratory testing methods as required.
- Monitor and evaluate test results to identify variations in raw materials, clinker, and finished cement.
- Record, calculate, verify, and report analytical results accurately and within required timeframes.
- Compare laboratory findings with established quality standards and production requirements.
- Identify abnormal results, deviations, and potential quality issues, and promptly inform the laboratory supervisor.
- Coordinate with quality control and production teams to support process monitoring and product quality improvement.
- Assist in investigating chemical composition variations and determining possible causes of nonconforming materials.
- Perform routine checks and calibration of laboratory instruments in accordance with established procedures.
- Maintain laboratory records, analytical reports, equipment logs, and quality control documentation.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, labeling, and disposal of chemicals and laboratory waste.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory workstations, instruments, and sample storage areas.
- Monitor laboratory supplies and report shortages of chemicals, reagents, and consumables.
- Follow laboratory standard operating procedures, quality assurance practices, and applicable testing standards.
- Comply with workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Perform other chemical analysis and laboratory quality control duties as assigned by management.
