Southern City Bathroom Renovations is seeking a skilled and experienced Carpenter to join its construction and renovation team in Australia. The successful candidate will be responsible for reading and interpreting architectural drawings and building plans, constructing and installing timber structures and components, and completing carpentry work according to project specifications and quality standards. The role requires strong technical skills, safe use of carpentry tools and equipment, and effective coordination with other tradespeople and construction personnel.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience is required.
• Must be at least a graduate of a four-year undergraduate course.
• Applicants with a Vocational Diploma or Short Course Certificate are also accepted.
• Proven experience in professional carpentry, construction, renovation, or related work.
• Strong ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, building plans, specifications, and work instructions.
• Skilled in timber framing, installation, measurement, cutting, assembly, and finishing.
• Experience constructing and installing timber frames and structural components.
• Experience in constructing and installing stairs, cabinets, and other timber components.
• Proficient in the safe and proper use of hand tools, power tools, and carpentry machinery.
• Good knowledge of carpentry methods, materials, fasteners, and construction practices.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Good problem-solving and practical construction skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with builders, supervisors, tradespeople, and other construction personnel.
• Physically fit and capable of performing hands-on carpentry work, including standing, bending, lifting, and working in different site conditions.
• Strong awareness of workplace health and safety procedures and proper PPE use.
• Reliable, hardworking, organized, and able to complete tasks within required deadlines.

Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret architectural drawings, building plans, specifications, and work instructions.
• Measure, mark, cut, shape, and assemble timber and other carpentry materials according to project requirements.
• Construct and install timber frames and structural components.
• Build and install timber structures and components for renovation and construction projects.
• Construct and install stairs, cabinets, and other timber components where required.
• Perform carpentry work for bathroom renovation and related construction projects.
• Take accurate measurements and ensure proper alignment, level, dimensions, and fit of installed components.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and carpentry machinery safely and correctly.
• Select appropriate materials, tools, fasteners, and equipment for each carpentry task.
• Cut, drill, nail, screw, join, and secure timber components using appropriate carpentry techniques.
• Inspect completed carpentry work to ensure it meets drawings, specifications, quality standards, and project requirements.
• Make necessary adjustments, repairs, or finishing work to ensure proper fit and quality.
• Coordinate with builders, supervisors, plumbers, electricians, tilers, painters, and other tradespeople during renovation projects.
• Work effectively with other construction personnel to ensure projects are completed according to schedule.
• Maintain tools, equipment, materials, and work areas in clean and organized condition.
• Identify and report material defects, structural issues, measurement discrepancies, or other construction concerns to supervisors.
• Follow established construction procedures, project specifications, and work instructions.
• Follow safe work practices and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain a safe work environment and comply with applicable workplace health and safety requirements.
• Handle timber, construction materials, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Minimize material waste through accurate measurement, cutting, and proper material handling.
• Assist with site preparation, cleanup, removal of construction debris, and other carpentry-related tasks as required.
• Complete assigned carpentry and renovation work within project timelines and required quality standards.
• Perform other carpentry and construction duties assigned by the employer.
