Peloton Workready is seeking an experienced and skilled Cabinet Maker for an overseas work opportunity in Australia. The successful candidate will be responsible for interpreting technical drawings, measuring and cutting timber and board materials, operating woodworking and CNC machinery, assembling cabinetry, applying finishes, and installing completed cabinets and hardware at residential or commercial sites.
CABINET MAKER
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of working experience as a Cabinet Maker or in a related woodworking/cabinet-making position.
- Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in a relevant or similar field.
- Must have a valid passport.
- Must have relevant work experience in the same field.
- Practical experience in cabinet manufacturing, woodworking, furniture production, and on-site installation.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, sketches, work orders, and specifications.
- Skilled in measuring, marking, cutting, shaping, drilling, routing, and assembling timber and board materials.
- Experience operating woodworking machinery such as table saws, panel saws, routers, drills, sanders, and CNC machines.
- Knowledge of cabinet construction and various woodworking and joinery techniques.
- Ability to assemble cabinets accurately using glue, dowels, screws, clamps, hardware, and other appropriate fastening methods.
- Knowledge of installing cabinet hardware such as hinges, handles, drawer runners, locks, brackets, and fittings.
- Ability to sand, prepare, and finish wood and cabinet surfaces to a professional standard.
- Knowledge of stains, lacquers, varnishes, paints, and other cabinet finishing materials.
- Ability to accurately measure installation areas and make appropriate adjustments to ensure proper fit.
- Strong attention to detail, precision, and quality workmanship.
- Good understanding of workshop and construction-site safety procedures and proper PPE use.
- Physically fit and capable of performing hands-on woodworking, lifting, carrying, and installation duties.
- Good problem-solving and practical technical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, hardworking, disciplined, and safety-conscious.
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, sketches, work orders, and specifications to determine cabinet dimensions, designs, materials, and construction requirements.
- Review project plans and determine the appropriate materials, measurements, cutting requirements, and assembly methods.
- Measure and accurately mark timber, plywood, MDF, particleboard, laminates, and other cabinet-making materials.
- Cut and shape materials according to specified dimensions using saws, routers, drills, and other woodworking tools.
- Set up and operate CNC machinery and other woodworking equipment for accurate and consistent production.
- Perform cutting, routing, drilling, edging, shaping, and other machining operations as required.
- Check measurements and dimensions throughout the production process to ensure components fit correctly.
- Assemble cabinet components using glue, dowels, screws, clamps, brackets, and specialized joinery techniques.
- Construct cabinets, cupboards, wardrobes, counters, shelving units, doors, drawers, and other custom cabinetry according to specifications.
- Install hinges, handles, drawer runners, locks, brackets, and other cabinet hardware.
- Ensure cabinet doors, drawers, shelves, and fittings are properly aligned and operate smoothly.
- Sand and smooth cabinet surfaces, edges, joints, and other components to achieve a clean and professional finish.
- Apply appropriate protective or decorative finishes such as stains, lacquers, varnishes, paints, or other finishing products when required.
- Inspect finished cabinetry for accuracy, structural integrity, appearance, surface quality, and overall workmanship.
- Identify and correct defects, dimensional errors, alignment issues, or finishing imperfections before installation.
- Safely transport completed cabinets and components to residential or commercial installation sites.
- Install and securely mount finished cabinets, shelving, counters, and related products on-site.
- Measure installation areas and make necessary adjustments to ensure cabinets fit properly within the designated space.
- Use appropriate tools and fixing methods to securely attach cabinetry to walls, floors, and other supporting structures.
- Coordinate with builders, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, designers, supervisors, and clients during installation work.
- Maintain woodworking machinery, hand tools, power tools, and CNC equipment in good working condition.
- Perform routine cleaning, inspection, and basic maintenance of machinery and tools.
- Follow production schedules and complete assigned cabinet-making and installation work within required timeframes.
- Minimize material waste through accurate measurements, efficient cutting, and proper material handling.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop and installation area.
- Perform other cabinet-making, woodworking, finishing, and installation duties assigned by management.
