Peloton Workready is seeking an experienced and skilled Bricklayer for an overseas work opportunity in Australia. The successful candidate will be responsible for laying and building brick, stone, and concrete block structures, interpreting construction plans, preparing mortar, setting accurate guidelines, cutting and shaping masonry materials, and performing repairs while maintaining high standards of workmanship and workplace safety.

BRICKLAYER

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years of working experience as a Bricklayer or in a related masonry construction position.
• Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in a relevant or similar field.
• Must have a valid passport.
• Must have relevant work experience in the same field.
• Practical experience in laying and constructing structures using bricks, concrete blocks, stone, and other masonry materials.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, construction plans, and site layouts.
• Skilled in measuring, marking, leveling, aligning, and setting out masonry work.
• Knowledge of preparing and mixing mortar, cement, sand, water, and other masonry materials.
• Ability to maintain accurate plumb, level, alignment, spacing, and mortar joints during brick and block installation.
• Skilled in cutting and shaping bricks, blocks, and stone using hand tools, chisels, grinders, and power saws.
• Experience constructing walls, partitions, facades, foundations, retaining walls, and other masonry structures.
• Ability to construct corners, openings, arches, reveals, and other masonry features accurately.
• Knowledge of repairing damaged masonry and repointing deteriorated mortar joints.
• Ability to identify defective, cracked, loose, or unstable brickwork and carry out appropriate repairs.
• Experience safely using levels, plumb bobs, string lines, squares, trowels, brick hammers, and other bricklaying tools.
• Knowledge of safe scaffolding and working-at-heights practices.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality masonry workmanship.
• Good understanding of construction-site safety procedures and proper PPE use.
• Physically fit and capable of performing manual construction work, including lifting, carrying, bending, kneeling, standing, and working at heights when required.
• Good practical problem-solving and technical skills.
• Ability to work efficiently according to project specifications and construction schedules.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a construction team.
• Reliable, hardworking, disciplined, and safety-conscious.

Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, construction plans, and site layouts to determine dimensions, measurements, materials, alignment, and masonry requirements.
• Review project specifications and determine the appropriate brick, stone, concrete block, mortar, and other materials for each task.
• Measure and mark work areas accurately before starting masonry construction.
• Establish levels, reference points, plumb lines, string lines, and other guidelines to ensure accurate alignment.
• Prepare work areas and ensure foundations, surfaces, and supporting structures are suitable for masonry work.
• Measure and mix cement, sand, water, mortar, and other masonry materials to the required consistency.
• Lay bricks, stone, concrete blocks, and other masonry units accurately using mortar as a bonding material.
• Position, align, level, and plumb individual masonry units to achieve straight, stable, and properly constructed walls.
• Construct walls, partitions, facades, foundations, retaining walls, pathways, and other masonry structures according to project specifications.
• Maintain consistent mortar joints, spacing, courses, alignment, and overall appearance throughout the construction process.
• Use levels, plumb bobs, string lines, squares, and other measuring tools to maintain accuracy.
• Cut, trim, shape, and fit bricks, blocks, and stones around corners, openings, windows, doors, pipes, conduits, and irregular spaces.
• Use hand tools, chisels, brick hammers, grinders, and power saws safely for cutting and shaping masonry materials.
• Construct corners, arches, openings, reveals, and other specialized masonry features as required.
• Remove excess mortar from masonry surfaces and maintain clean and neat finished joints.
• Inspect completed masonry work for alignment, level, plumb, joint consistency, structural stability, and overall finish.
• Repoint damaged or deteriorated mortar joints using appropriate repair materials and techniques.
• Repair cracked, damaged, loose, or unstable brickwork and replace defective masonry units when necessary.
• Remove damaged sections of masonry safely and rebuild affected areas according to specifications.
• Assist with site preparation, including setting up work areas, moving materials, and preparing necessary tools and equipment.
• Safely erect, use, and dismantle scaffolding and access equipment in accordance with site safety procedures.
• Handle, transport, and store bricks, blocks, stones, cement, mortar, tools, and other construction materials safely.
• Maintain bricklaying tools and equipment in good working condition and report damaged or defective equipment.
• Minimize material waste through accurate measurement, cutting, planning, and proper handling of masonry materials.
• Coordinate with carpenters, plasterers, roofers, plumbers, electricians, builders, supervisors, and other construction trades.
• Follow project schedules and complete assigned masonry work within required timeframes.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area throughout construction activities.
• Follow applicable Australian construction requirements, workplace safety procedures, and health and safety regulations.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe work practices when handling materials, tools, scaffolding, and machinery.
• Report structural concerns, unsafe conditions, material shortages, equipment defects, or other site issues to the supervisor.
• Perform other bricklaying, masonry construction, repair, and maintenance duties assigned by management.
