Carpenter Automotive & Transport Limited / Boroko Motors is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join its finance team in Papua New Guinea. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing financial reports, monitoring budgets, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. Experience in the automotive industry is essential to effectively support dealership and service operations.

ACCOUNTANT

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant experience in the automotive industry.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and bookkeeping practices.
• Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
• High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, journals, ledgers, and accounting reports.
• Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Monitor budgets, cash flow, and financial performance to support business decision-making.
• Ensure timely and accurate tax, statutory, and regulatory compliance.
• Reconcile financial discrepancies and investigate variances.
• Coordinate with internal departments to verify financial transactions and documentation.
• Assist in budget preparation, financial forecasting, and audit activities.
• Maintain accounting records in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.
• Recommend process improvements to strengthen financial controls and operational efficiency.
