Greentech Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Solar PV and Battery Systems Technician to install, commission, troubleshoot, and maintain solar photovoltaic (PV), battery energy storage, inverter, and backup power systems in Vanuatu. The successful candidate will be responsible for complete end-to-end solar and battery installations, including site assessment, equipment installation, AC/DC electrical works, system testing, commissioning, fault diagnosis, and preventive maintenance. The role also requires the ability to interpret electrical drawings and guide other installers when necessary.
Senior Solar PV and Battery Systems Technician
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 4 years of relevant working experience is required.
- Must be a Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in Engineering (Electrical/Electronic) or a similar field.
- Must have a technical or vocational diploma/certificate, trade qualification, or equivalent recognized training in Electrical Installation, Electrical
- Engineering, Renewable Energy, Solar PV, or a closely related field.
- Proven practical experience in solar PV, battery energy storage, and electrical installation.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of solar photovoltaic systems, battery storage systems, inverters, and backup power systems.
- Experience performing AC and DC electrical installation, including cabling, earthing, protective devices, switchgear, and electrical connections.
- Ability to install and commission complete solar PV and battery systems from site assessment through final testing.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and single-line diagrams.
- Strong troubleshooting and fault-diagnosis skills for solar PV, battery, inverter, and electrical systems.
- Good understanding of electrical safety, safe work practices, equipment protection, and proper system labelling.
- Ability to assess different site conditions and adapt installation methods, equipment placement, cable routing, and electrical connection arrangements accordingly.
- Knowledge of manufacturer installation requirements and applicable electrical and safety standards.
- Ability to use electrical testing instruments, diagnostic tools, and solar installation equipment safely and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to installation quality and system reliability.
- Good communication, teamwork, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and take responsibility for assigned solar and battery installations.
- Ability to guide and provide technical support to other installers when required.
Responsibilities:
- Install, commission, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, battery energy storage systems, inverters, and backup power systems.
- Perform complete end-to-end solar PV and battery system installations for residential, commercial, and project sites.
- Conduct site assessments and determine appropriate equipment placement, mounting methods, cable routing, and electrical connection arrangements.
- Install and secure solar PV modules, mounting structures, batteries, inverters, switchgear, and other system components.
- Carry out AC and DC electrical installation work in accordance with approved designs and applicable safety requirements.
- Install and connect solar cabling, battery wiring, electrical distribution equipment, protective devices, earthing systems, and related components.
- Install and configure automatic transfer switches and backup power arrangements where required.
- Perform electrical connections and ensure proper integration between solar PV systems, battery storage, inverters, and backup power equipment.
- Read, interpret, and work from electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and single-line diagrams.
- Verify that installations are completed correctly and meet required technical, safety, and quality standards.
- Conduct system testing and commissioning following installation, repair, or maintenance activities.
- Diagnose electrical, electronic, inverter, battery, and solar PV system faults and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections to ensure reliable and efficient system operation.
- Check system performance, electrical connections, protective devices, batteries, inverters, cabling, and other components for proper operation.
- Follow manufacturer requirements, technical specifications, installation procedures, and applicable electrical and workplace safety standards.
- Ensure proper system labelling, identification of circuits, warning signs, and safe access to equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities.
- Identify potential installation problems and recommend appropriate technical solutions based on site conditions and customer requirements.
- Use electrical testing instruments, diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and specialized solar installation tools safely and correctly.
- Guide, coordinate, and provide technical assistance to other installers when required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout installation and service activities.
- Report technical issues, equipment defects, safety concerns, and project requirements to the appropriate supervisor or management.
- Perform other solar PV, battery storage, electrical installation, and maintenance duties as assigned.
