Job Location: Vanuatu
China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation is seeking highly experienced and safety-oriented Senior HSE Engineers for deployment to Vanuatu. The successful candidate will oversee health, safety, and environmental compliance on construction projects while ensuring adherence to international safety standards and project requirements.
Senior HSE Engineer
Qualifications:
- Male applicants only.
- Age should not exceed 50 years old.
- Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or any safety-related field.
- (Educational requirement may be relaxed for candidates with extensive relevant experience.)
- Must be a Licensed Safety Officer with valid BOSH/COSH certification.
- NEBOSH or OSHA certification is an advantage.
- Minimum of 8 years construction experience, including at least 5 years overseas experience.
- Previous experience in World Bank projects is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of:
- HSE Management Systems
- Safety Compliance
- Site Inspection Procedures
- Incident Reporting and Investigation
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Strong leadership, communication, and supervisory skills.
- Physically fit and capable of working in tropical construction site conditions.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple site safety activities effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs for construction projects.
- Ensure full compliance with company policies, local regulations, and international HSE standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare and maintain HSE reports, incident investigations, safety documentation, and compliance records.
- Lead toolbox meetings, safety orientations, and HSE training sessions for workers and subcontractors.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure safe work practices and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and recommend preventive measures.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and client representatives regarding HSE matters.
- Ensure environmental protection measures and waste management procedures are properly implemented on-site.
- Promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement in workplace health and safety performance.
