Jabil Circuit Sdn. is seeking a qualified and experienced Planning Section Manager for an overseas work opportunity in Malaysia. The successful candidate will oversee production planning activities, manage planning personnel, coordinate manufacturing schedules and material requirements, and ensure production plans support customer demand, inventory objectives, and delivery commitments.
Planning Section Manager
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in production planning, material planning, supply chain planning, or a related manufacturing planning role.
- Candidates with experience in EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services) or OEM (Electrical & Electronics Manufacturing) are preferred.
- Experience in electronics, electrical, or high-volume manufacturing is an advantage.
- Proven experience in production planning, scheduling, material requirements planning, inventory management, and capacity planning.
- Experience managing or supervising planning personnel is highly advantageous.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, production schedules, material requirements, inventory control, and customer demand planning.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze forecasts, production requirements, inventory levels, material availability, and manufacturing capacity.
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and make effective decisions under pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with production, procurement, materials, warehouse, engineering, quality, sales, and customer service teams.
- Experience with ERP/MRP or manufacturing planning systems is an advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel, is preferred.
- Strong reporting and data analysis skills.
- Ability to prepare management reports, production forecasts, planning dashboards, and performance analyses.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to develop and implement process improvements.
- Ability to lead and motivate a multidisciplinary planning team.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment.
- Willing to follow company policies, manufacturing procedures, customer requirements, quality standards, and workplace safety regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the production planning and material planning function.
- Develop and implement production plans based on customer demand, forecasts, orders, inventory, material availability, and manufacturing capacity.
- Supervise, guide, and support planners and other personnel within the planning section.
- Establish planning priorities and ensure production schedules are communicated clearly to relevant departments.
- Monitor production schedules and ensure manufacturing activities remain aligned with customer delivery requirements.
- Coordinate with production, materials, procurement, warehouse, engineering, quality, sales, and customer service teams.
- Review material requirements and ensure the availability of raw materials, components, and other production resources.
- Monitor inventory levels and balance material availability with production requirements and inventory targets.
- Identify material shortages, production bottlenecks, capacity constraints, and potential delivery risks.
- Develop and implement corrective actions to address planning issues and minimize production disruptions.
- Monitor production progress against planned schedules and adjust plans when required.
- Prioritize production orders based on customer requirements, delivery commitments, material availability, and manufacturing capacity.
- Coordinate schedule changes resulting from customer demand changes, material shortages, equipment problems, production constraints, or engineering changes.
- Lead capacity planning activities and ensure available production resources are effectively utilized.
- Analyze customer forecasts, demand patterns, inventory levels, production capacity, and supply constraints.
- Monitor key planning performance indicators, including schedule adherence, inventory levels, material shortages, production output, and on-time delivery.
- Prepare and present planning reports, forecasts, dashboards, performance summaries, and management updates.
- Establish and maintain effective planning procedures, systems, controls, and standard operating processes.
- Ensure planning data, production schedules, inventory information, and material requirements are accurate and up to date.
- Coordinate with procurement and suppliers to monitor material availability and delivery schedules.
- Support new product introduction, product transfers, engineering changes, and other manufacturing projects.
- Work closely with manufacturing teams to identify production constraints and improve production flow.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to production planning, inventory management, capacity utilization, and delivery performance.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve planning efficiency and reduce production delays and excess inventory.
- Review planning processes and recommend improvements to systems, workflows, and resource allocation.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance guidance to planning team members.
- Monitor the performance of the planning section and ensure assigned responsibilities are completed accurately and on time.
- Conduct planning meetings and communicate production priorities, risks, schedule changes, and material concerns to stakeholders.
- Escalate significant supply, capacity, production, and delivery risks to senior management.
- Ensure planning activities comply with company policies, customer requirements, quality standards, and manufacturing procedures.
- Perform other management, planning, coordination, and supervisory duties assigned by management.
