PIPING QC INSPECTOR
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of working experience as a Piping QC Inspector or in a related piping quality control position.
- Must be a Bachelor’s / College Degree holder in Engineering (Chemical), Engineering (Mechanical), or similar fields.
- Male applicants are preferred for this role.
- Diploma in Engineering or Science Graduate is preferred.
- CSWIP 3.1 or AWS-CWI certification is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of piping inspection, fabrication, fit-up, alignment, installation, and testing.
- Familiarity with applicable piping standards, codes, specifications, and quality control procedures.
- Experience inspecting piping materials, fittings, valves, flanges, pipe supports, hangers, and related components.
- Practical experience inspecting pipe fabrication, fit-up, alignment, and installation.
- Strong knowledge of welding inspection and ability to verify compliance with approved welding procedures.
- Ability to check weld identification, joint preparation, dimensions, and visual weld quality.
- Knowledge of common welding defects and appropriate inspection requirements.
- Familiarity with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods and ability to coordinate and witness required NDT activities.
- Experience witnessing hydrostatic, pneumatic, pressure, flushing, and leak tests.
- Ability to review inspection and testing results and identify non-conformities.
- Strong understanding of piping quality documentation, inspection records, test reports, and material traceability.
- Familiarity with computer applications used for documentation, reporting, and quality record management.
- Ability to read and interpret piping drawings, specifications, inspection procedures, and related technical documents.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and coordination skills when working with multidisciplinary project teams.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining professional inspection judgment.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements in industrial and construction environments.

Responsibilities:
- Inspect incoming piping materials, fittings, valves, flanges, and other piping components to verify compliance with approved specifications and documentation.
- Check material identification, quantities, dimensions, specifications, and condition upon receipt.
- Verify material certificates and supporting documentation where required.
- Inspect pipe fabrication activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and procedures.
- Inspect pipe fit-up, alignment, orientation, dimensions, and installation prior to welding and final acceptance.
- Verify pipe joint preparation, root gaps, bevel angles, cleanliness, and other fit-up requirements.
- Inspect welding activities and verify compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and applicable requirements.
- Check welder identification, weld identification, joint numbers, and welding records for proper traceability.
- Inspect joint preparation, welding sequence, dimensions, and overall visual weld quality.
- Identify welding defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut, lack of fusion, excessive reinforcement, and other visible discontinuities.
- Coordinate and witness required Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities in accordance with approved inspection and test requirements.
- Review NDT results and reports and ensure identified defects are properly addressed.
- Inspect pipe supports, hangers, brackets, and related piping components for proper installation and alignment.
- Verify that pipe supports and hangers are installed according to approved drawings and specifications.
- Witness and document hydrostatic, pneumatic, pressure, flushing, and leak tests.
- Verify that piping systems are properly prepared and ready for pressure and functional testing.
- Monitor testing activities and ensure test procedures, pressure levels, duration, and acceptance requirements are followed.
- Inspect completed piping systems and verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Perform visual inspections and dimensional checks throughout fabrication and installation activities.
- Raise inspection reports, non-conformance reports, punch-list items, and other quality documentation when required.
- Follow up on corrective actions and verify that identified defects and non-conformities are properly rectified.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, NDT activities, welding inspections, and material verification.
- Ensure proper traceability of piping materials, weld joints, inspection activities, and testing documentation.
- Coordinate with piping engineers, welding inspectors, QA/QC personnel, supervisors, contractors, and construction teams.
- Participate in inspection and quality meetings and provide updates regarding piping quality issues and inspection status.
- Review relevant codes, standards, specifications, drawings, and inspection procedures before conducting assigned inspections.
- Ensure inspection activities comply with applicable project quality requirements and industry standards.
- Use computer applications for preparing reports, maintaining inspection records, and managing quality documentation.
- Assist with final inspection, punch-list clearance, testing documentation, and project handover requirements.
- Maintain professional and independent judgment when evaluating piping workmanship and quality compliance.
- Follow workplace health and safety requirements during inspections, testing, fabrication, and construction activities.
- Perform other piping quality control and inspection duties assigned by management.
