Outboard Mechanic

Qualifications:

• Must have three (3) to five (5) years of relevant work experience in the marine industry.
• Must have relevant experience working on yachts, marine pleasure crafts, or similar marine vessels.
• Must have hands-on experience and technical knowledge relevant to the Outboard Mechanic position.
• Knowledge and practical experience in outboard engine inspection, servicing, troubleshooting, and repair.
• Ability to use marine mechanical tools, diagnostic equipment, and workshop machinery safely and correctly.
• Ability to follow technical instructions, manufacturer specifications, and established maintenance procedures.
• Must be able to maintain quality workmanship and attention to detail.
• Must observe workplace safety procedures and proper handling of tools, equipment, fuels, lubricants, and marine materials.
• Physically fit and capable of performing hands-on mechanical work in a marine environment.
• Must be able to work effectively as part of a team and communicate with supervisors and other technical personnel.
• Reliable, hardworking, responsible, and committed to completing assigned work according to required standards.

Responsibilities:

• Inspect, service, troubleshoot, and repair outboard marine engines and related systems.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate tools, testing equipment, and diagnostic procedures.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and scheduled servicing of outboard motors.
• Inspect engines for wear, damage, leaks, corrosion, and other mechanical problems.
• Perform engine tune-ups, adjustments, oil changes, filter replacement, lubrication, and other routine maintenance.
• Repair or replace defective engine components, parts, fittings, and related marine equipment.
• Check fuel, cooling, ignition, starting, charging, and propulsion systems for proper operation.
• Test engines and conduct operational checks after servicing or repairs.
• Assist in troubleshooting performance issues such as starting problems, overheating, loss of power, unusual noise, or excessive vibration.
• Use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and marine workshop equipment safely and correctly.
• Follow technical manuals, manufacturer specifications, service procedures, and work instructions.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, servicing, parts used, and maintenance activities.
• Inspect completed work to ensure proper operation, reliability, and quality workmanship.
• Maintain tools, equipment, work areas, and marine workshop facilities in clean and safe condition.
• Properly handle lubricants, fuel, cleaning materials, replacement parts, and other workshop supplies.
• Coordinate with marine technicians, electricians, supervisors, and other personnel during repair and maintenance activities.
• Follow workplace safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Report major defects, repair requirements, damaged components, and safety concerns to supervisors.
• Assist with maintenance and repair work on yachts, marine pleasure crafts, and similar vessels as required.
• Perform other related marine mechanical duties assigned by management.
