The Ministry of Health Sultanate of Oman is seeking qualified Medical Officers specializing in Emergency Medicine to provide immediate and critical medical care to patients in emergency settings. The successful candidate will be responsible for rapid patient assessment, emergency treatment, stabilization of critical conditions, and coordination with healthcare teams to deliver effective and timely care.
MEDICAL OFFICER EMERGENCY MEDICINE
Qualifications:
- Applicants with no prior work experience are welcome to apply.
- Doctorate Degree holder in Medicine or a related field.
- Medical Doctor (MD) or Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from an accredited institution.
- Completion of residency or specialized training in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or related fields.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certifications are typically required.
- Strong clinical decision-making skills and ability to perform effectively under high-pressure situations.
- Excellent emergency care, procedural, communication, and teamwork skills.
Responsibilities:
- Perform rapid triage and assessment of incoming patients to determine the severity of illness or injury and prioritize treatment based on urgency.
- Provide emergency medical care, including resuscitation, airway management, and stabilization of vital signs for trauma, cardiac arrest, overdose, and other critical conditions.
- Order, review, and interpret diagnostic tests such as laboratory results, X-rays, CT scans, and EKGs.
- Develop and implement immediate treatment plans based on patient conditions and clinical findings.
- Determine appropriate patient disposition, including admission, transfer to surgery or ICU, referral, or discharge with follow-up instructions.
- Coordinate with nursing teams, medical specialists, and ambulance services during emergency response and patient transfers.
- Perform emergency procedures while maintaining high standards of patient safety and care.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in accordance with healthcare regulations.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and comply with hospital policies and clinical standards.
