We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Plant Operator Technician to operate, monitor, inspect, and maintain mechanical equipment in a water desalination plant. The successful candidate will ensure the efficient and reliable operation of plant machinery, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, and support continuous plant operations in compliance with safety and operational standards.

MECHANICAL PLANT OPERATOR TECHNICIAN (Water Desalination Plant Operator)

Qualifications:

• Must hold a Technical Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical maintenance and plant operations, preferably in a water desalination plant, water treatment facility, or similar industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment, including pumps, motors, compressors, valves, piping systems, and rotating machinery.
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and mechanical repairs.
• Familiarity with industrial safety procedures and maintenance best practices.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or as part of a maintenance team.
• Physically fit and willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime when required.

Responsibilities:

• Operate and monitor mechanical equipment and systems in the water desalination plant.
• Perform routine inspections of pumps, motors, valves, compressors, piping systems, and other mechanical equipment.
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure continuous and efficient plant operation.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and perform repairs or coordinate maintenance activities when necessary.
• Monitor equipment performance and report abnormalities or operational issues.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and operational logs.
• Ensure compliance with plant operating procedures, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
• Assist during equipment installation, commissioning, and shutdown activities.
• Perform other maintenance and operational duties assigned by the Plant Supervisor or Maintenance Engineer.
