Maintenance Instrument Technician
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of industrial instrumentation maintenance experience, preferably in oil and gas, petrochemical, utility, or gas-processing facilities.
- Candidates must possess a Vocational Diploma or Short Course Certificate in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical Technology, or a related technical field.
- Male applicants are preferred for this role.
- Strong knowledge of pressure, temperature, flow, level, analytical, and machinery-monitoring instrumentation.
- Proficient in maintaining transmitters, switches, control valves, positioners, solenoids, instrument air systems, tubing, and impulse lines.
- Thorough understanding of 4–20 mA analog signals, digital communication protocols, and industrial instrumentation systems.
- Experience working with PLC, DCS, ESD, and Fire & Gas (F&G) interfaces.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, logic diagrams, hook-up drawings, and technical documentation.
- Skilled in using calibrators, communicators, multimeters, pressure sources, temperature sources, and other diagnostic instruments.
- Knowledge of hazardous-area classifications, permit-to-work systems, equipment isolation, gas testing, and emergency procedures.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication, documentation, and teamwork abilities.
- Physically fit and capable of working in industrial plant environments.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on field instrumentation and control systems.
- Install, inspect, calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain pressure, temperature, flow, level, analytical, and machinery-monitoring instruments.
- Maintain and service transmitters, switches, control valves, valve positioners, solenoids, instrument air systems, tubing, and impulse lines.
- Perform loop checking, functional testing, calibration, and commissioning of instrumentation systems.
- Diagnose and resolve faults involving 4–20 mA analog signals, digital communication systems, and field devices.
- Interface with PLC, DCS, ESD, and Fire & Gas (F&G) systems during maintenance and testing activities.
- Read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, logic diagrams, hook-up drawings, cause-and-effect charts, instrument data sheets, and technical manuals.
- Use instrument calibrators, HART communicators, multimeters, pressure calibrators, temperature calibrators, and other diagnostic equipment safely and accurately.
- Perform structured troubleshooting to identify instrument failures and restore system functionality with minimal downtime.
- Verify hazardous-area equipment integrity and ensure compliance with explosion-proof and intrinsically safe installation requirements.
- Participate in equipment isolation, permit-to-work (PTW), lockout/tagout (LOTO), gas testing, confined space entry, and emergency response procedures.
- Maintain accurate calibration certificates, maintenance records, inspection reports, and work documentation.
- Coordinate with engineers, planners, operations personnel, and maintenance teams to ensure efficient execution of maintenance activities.
- Maintain tools, test equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Comply with company policies, Saudi regulations, and applicable industrial standards and procedures.
- Perform other instrumentation maintenance duties assigned by supervisors or management.
