Franklin Smith Limited is seeking highly skilled Heavy Diesel Mechanics to join its operations in New Zealand. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing heavy diesel mining equipment in a high-production environment, ensuring maximum equipment reliability, safety, and performance.

Heavy Diesel Mechanic

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic is required.
• Proven experience working on large mining equipment, not just general construction machinery.
• Background in open-cut mining operations and high-production maintenance environments.
• Strong experience in maintenance and repair of heavy diesel equipment.
• Must possess NC II or equivalent trade certification.
• Strong English communication skills (oral and written).
• Excellent diagnostic, troubleshooting, and mechanical repair skills.

Responsibilities:

• Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of heavy diesel mining equipment and components.
• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance in accordance with strict maintenance schedules.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, braking systems, and electrical components.
• Work on large-scale mining equipment used in open-cut mining operations.
• Ensure all machinery is maintained to operational and safety standards to minimize downtime.
• Carry out detailed inspections and report defects, failures, and maintenance requirements.
• Follow technical manuals, maintenance procedures, and manufacturer specifications.
• Maintain accurate service records, maintenance logs, and repair documentation.
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools, equipment, and workshop facilities.
• Comply with workplace health, safety, and environmental regulations at all times.
