Furniture Carpenter
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of working experience as a Furniture Carpenter or in a related carpentry/furniture manufacturing position.
- No minimum educational attainment is required for this position.
- Male applicants are preferred for this role.
- Must have a valid passport with at least 2 years validity.
- Strong experience in furniture manufacturing.
- Strong experience in POSM materials production.
- Experience in booth stand fabrication and exhibition stand production.
- Experience in retail store fit-out works and shop preparation.
- Practical experience working with natural wood, MDF, plywood, melamine, Formica, laminate, acrylic, and related production materials.
- Ability to accurately read and understand shop drawings and production details.
- Skilled in measuring, marking, cutting, shaping, drilling, assembling, and installing furniture components.
- Knowledge of furniture construction, joinery methods, hardware installation, and material selection.
- Proficient in using common carpentry hand tools, power tools, and woodworking equipment.
- Strong ability to work accurately according to measurements, drawings, specifications, and production requirements.
- Good understanding of furniture assembly, finishing, fitting, and quality inspection.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to troubleshoot fabrication problems and make appropriate adjustments or corrections.
- Physically fit and capable of performing hands-on carpentry and furniture manufacturing duties.
- Reliable, hardworking, disciplined, and safety-conscious.
- Able to work independently and as part of a production team.
Responsibilities:
- Manufacture and assemble furniture and custom-built fixtures according to approved designs and specifications.
- Produce POSM materials such as display units, counters, shelves, stands, cabinets, and other promotional fixtures.
- Fabricate booth stands and exhibition stands for events, exhibitions, and commercial displays.
- Perform carpentry and fabrication work for retail store fit-out projects and shop preparation.
- Read and interpret shop drawings, production drawings, measurements, specifications, and fabrication details.
- Measure, mark, cut, shape, drill, assemble, and finish materials accurately according to project requirements.
- Work with natural wood, MDF, plywood, melamine, Formica, laminate, acrylic, and related production materials.
- Select appropriate materials, hardware, fasteners, adhesives, and construction methods for each project.
- Operate appropriate hand tools, power tools, cutting equipment, drilling equipment, and woodworking machinery.
- Cut and shape wood and board materials to required dimensions and specifications.
- Assemble furniture components using screws, nails, adhesives, dowels, brackets, fittings, and other appropriate joining methods.
- Install hinges, handles, drawer slides, locks, brackets, and other furniture hardware.
- Perform edge finishing, trimming, sanding, and surface preparation to achieve clean and professional results.
- Ensure proper alignment, measurements, joints, dimensions, and overall structural integrity of finished products.
- Fabricate cabinets, counters, shelving units, display fixtures, partitions, tables, and other customized furniture components.
- Work with acrylic and laminated materials while maintaining accurate cuts and clean edges.
- Modify or adjust fabricated components when required to ensure proper fit and installation.
- Inspect completed furniture, POSM, booth stands, and retail fixtures for defects, dimensional errors, and finishing issues.
- Perform repairs, corrections, and rework when products do not meet required specifications.
- Coordinate with designers, production supervisors, installers, painters, and other workshop personnel.
- Follow production schedules and complete assigned fabrication work within required deadlines.
- Handle materials carefully to prevent damage, unnecessary waste, and production losses.
- Maintain and properly store carpentry tools, machinery, materials, and equipment.
- Perform basic cleaning and routine maintenance of woodworking tools and equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop and production area.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Perform other furniture manufacturing, carpentry, fabrication, and fit-out duties assigned by management.
