Iririki Island Resort & Spa is seeking an experienced and capable Chief Steward to oversee kitchen stewarding operations in a professional resort environment in Vanuatu. The successful candidate will supervise stewarding staff, maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation, ensure proper care of kitchen equipment and service ware, and coordinate closely with culinary, food and beverage, housekeeping, and engineering teams.

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree, Diploma, or relevant certification in Hospitality Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related field is an advantage.
• Must have relevant experience as a Chief Steward, Head Kitchen Steward, Stewarding Supervisor, or in a similar supervisory role.
• Proven experience supervising and managing kitchen stewarding staff is required.
• Must be knowledgeable in the proper cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment, utensils, crockery, cutlery, and glassware.
• Must have strong knowledge of kitchen hygiene, sanitation, health, and safety procedures.
• Must possess strong leadership, organizational, communication, and team-management skills.
• Must be capable of training, supervising, motivating, and evaluating stewarding staff.
• Must be able to coordinate effectively with the Executive Chef, Kitchen Team, Food & Beverage Department, Housekeeping, and Engineering Department.
• Must be organized, reliable, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced resort or hospitality environment.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and manage daily kitchen stewarding operations to ensure efficient and hygienic workflow.
• Lead, train, supervise, motivate, and evaluate stewarding staff.
• Assign daily duties and ensure adequate staffing for kitchen and food service operations.
• Oversee the proper cleaning, sanitizing, and maintenance of kitchen equipment, utensils, crockery, cutlery, glassware, and other food service items.
• Ensure stewarding areas, kitchens, storage areas, and related facilities are maintained in a clean, organized, and sanitary condition.
• Monitor the proper use, storage, and handling of cleaning chemicals, tools, and equipment.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with hygiene, sanitation, health, and safety standards.
• Coordinate with the Executive Chef and Kitchen Team to ensure timely availability of clean equipment and service ware.
• Work closely with the Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, and Engineering Departments to address operational and maintenance requirements.
• Report damaged or malfunctioning kitchen equipment and coordinate necessary repairs with the Engineering Department.
• Monitor inventory and ensure adequate supplies of cleaning materials, chemicals, and stewarding equipment.
• Assist in controlling operating costs and minimizing wastage of supplies and resources.
• Maintain proper records and reports related to stewarding operations, equipment, supplies, and staff activities.
