Australian Skilled Migration is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of all onboard machinery and vessel systems. The successful candidate will ensure safe, efficient, and compliant vessel operations while maintaining high engineering and safety standards in accordance with maritime regulations.

CHIEF ENGINEER

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in the maritime industry.
• Valid marine certification (STCW III/3 or higher, or motor-endorsed STCW III/1 with eligibility for AMSA-issued Certificate of Competency).
• Strong knowledge of maritime legislation, safety standards, and vessel operations.
• Experience with planned maintenance systems (PMS).
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• High attention to detail and strong commitment to safety and quality.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities:

• Operate, monitor, and maintain all onboard machinery and ship systems.
• Conduct ongoing assessment of machinery condition and ensure optimal performance.
• Perform repair and maintenance of mechanical and electrical ship systems.
• Repair and maintain pearling-specific deck and diving equipment.
• Ensure compliance with local maritime laws, regulations, and safety standards.
• Prepare and maintain detailed records of machinery condition, breakdowns, repairs, and maintenance activities.
• Develop worklists for drydocking, refits, and scheduled maintenance.
• Coordinate breakdown reporting procedures and liaise with shore-based technical staff.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational standards of machinery spaces.
• Assist on deck or aboard other vessels when operationally required.
