BUS TECHNICIAN
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in the maintenance and repair of buses, trucks, or other heavy vehicles.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, electronic, and vehicle diagnostic systems.
- Experienced in preventive maintenance, fault finding, troubleshooting, and repairs.
- Familiar with computerized vehicle diagnostic tools, preferably Xentry, MAN-cats, or EASY.
- Basic knowledge of hybrid and electric vehicle (HEV/EV) systems is an advantage.
- Able to read and troubleshoot wiring diagrams and electrical circuits.
- Vocational or Secondary education in Mechanics, Electronics, Electromechanics, or equivalent practical experience.
- Good understanding of heavy vehicle maintenance procedures, diagnostic methods, and repair techniques.
- Ability to accurately identify mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults and determine appropriate repair procedures.
- Willing to work with conventional, hybrid, and electric buses and continuously develop technical skills.
- Good English communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and technical skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a professional workshop team.
- Physically fit and capable of performing hands-on maintenance and repair work.
- Safety-conscious, reliable, disciplined, and committed to maintaining high-quality workmanship.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on buses, trucks, and other heavy vehicles.
- Inspect vehicle mechanical, electrical, electronic, and control systems to identify faults and potential problems.
- Conduct systematic fault finding, troubleshooting, and vehicle diagnostics.
- Use computerized diagnostic equipment to identify and analyze vehicle system faults.
- Operate diagnostic tools such as Xentry, MAN-cats, EASY, or similar systems when applicable.
- Read and interpret vehicle wiring diagrams, electrical circuits, technical manuals, and repair documentation.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic components, wiring, sensors, control units, and related vehicle systems.
- Perform mechanical repairs and component replacement according to manufacturer and workshop procedures.
- Carry out scheduled servicing, inspections, adjustments, lubrication, and other preventive maintenance activities.
- Inspect braking, steering, suspension, drivetrain, cooling, and other major vehicle systems.
- Troubleshoot starting, charging, lighting, control, communication, and other electrical faults.
- Assist with diagnostics and maintenance of hybrid and electric vehicle (HEV/EV) systems when required.
- Identify defective components and recommend appropriate repairs or replacements.
- Perform functional tests after repairs to confirm that vehicles are safe and operating correctly.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, diagnostic findings, repairs, parts replaced, and maintenance activities.
- Follow manufacturer specifications, workshop procedures, technical instructions, and quality standards.
- Use workshop tools, testing instruments, lifting equipment, and diagnostic equipment safely and correctly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment.
- Follow occupational health and safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Coordinate with supervisors, mechanics, diagnostic specialists, and other workshop personnel to resolve complex vehicle problems.
- Keep updated with developments in conventional, hybrid, and electric bus technologies and repair methods.
- Perform road tests or operational checks when required and report any remaining faults.
- Perform other maintenance, diagnostic, and repair duties assigned by management.
