Barista

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience as a Barista or in a similar food and beverage position.
  • Must hold a Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate in Food and Beverage Preparation/Service Management, Hospitality/Tourism Management, or a similar field.
  • Proven ability to prepare quality coffee, tea, and other beverages.
  • Knowledge of coffee beans, grinding, brewing, blending, and beverage preparation techniques.
  • Experience in preparing simple food items such as sandwiches and baked goods is an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of menu items and ability to make appropriate customer recommendations.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Good communication skills and a friendly, professional approach to customers.
  • Ability to operate and maintain coffee machines, grinders, and other bar equipment.
  • Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and proper food handling procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to beverage and food quality.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced food and beverage environment.
  • Good teamwork, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Reliable, hardworking, courteous, and customer-focused.
  • Male applicants are preferred for this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Welcome customers in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Provide information about menu items, specials, promotions, and new products.
  • Answer customer questions and make appropriate menu recommendations.
  • Accurately take customer orders and process cash, card, or other payments.
  • Prepare and serve coffee, tea, and other beverages according to established recipes and quality standards.
  • Grind and blend coffee beans and operate coffee-making equipment properly.
  • Prepare and serve food items such as sandwiches, baked goods, and other menu products.
  • Ensure beverages and food are presented attractively and served promptly.
  • Maintain knowledge of the menu, ingredients, preparation methods, and available products.
  • Monitor customer preferences and provide appropriate recommendations when requested.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar, counter, preparation area, and customer service areas.
  • Clean and sanitize coffee machines, grinders, utensils, equipment, and workstations regularly.
  • Check ingredients and supplies and inform supervisors when stocks need replenishment.
  • Follow proper food handling, hygiene, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of coffee beans, food products, beverages, and other supplies.
  • Handle customer concerns and service issues professionally and promptly.
  • Work closely with other food and beverage staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Minimize product waste through proper preparation, portioning, and storage.
  • Perform other barista, food preparation, and customer service duties assigned by management.
