Carpenters Automotive and Transport Limited is seeking a skilled Auto Painter to join our team in Papua New Guinea. The ideal candidate will prepare and paint vehicles to the highest quality standards, ensuring perfect color matching, finish, and surface preparation. This role requires attention to detail, technical expertise, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Auto Painter
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of working experience as an automotive painter or in a similar role.
- High school diploma or vocational training in automotive painting or related field.
- Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate in a related technical field is preferred.
- NC II certification in Automotive Servicing or related technical certification.
- Proven knowledge of paint mixing, spray-painting techniques, and finishing methods.
- Ability to use painting tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and color accuracy.
- Good hand-eye coordination and physical stamina.
- Knowledge of workplace safety standards and proper chemical handling.
- Experience in auto body repair shops or automotive dealerships.
- Familiarity with different paint systems and finishing products.
- Technical expertise in automotive painting and finishing.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
- Strong organizational and cleanliness standards.
- Commitment to quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare vehicle surfaces by sanding, masking, and cleaning before painting.
- Mix and match paint colors according to specifications.
- Apply primer, base coat, and finishing coats using spray guns and other painting equipment.
- Repair minor surface imperfections before painting.
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality, finish, and color accuracy.
- Maintain painting tools, spray booths, and equipment in proper working condition.
- Follow workplace safety procedures and proper handling of paint materials and chemicals.
- Coordinate with body repair technicians and supervisors regarding repair and painting status.
- Complete work within target timelines while maintaining quality standards.
