Committee Australia is seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to oversee the daily operations of its fabrication and manufacturing workshop. The successful candidate will lead workshop personnel, manage production schedules, ensure quality workmanship, and maintain the highest standards of workplace safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a qualified Boilermaker.
- Previous experience as a Workshop Manager, Leading Hand, or similar supervisory role in fabrication or manufacturing.
- Strong leadership, people management, and team development skills.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and communication abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication plans, and technical documentation.
- Sound knowledge of structural steel fabrication, welding, manufacturing, and workshop operations.
- Strong understanding of production planning, quality assurance, and workshop efficiency.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety and delivering high-quality workmanship.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work under pressure while managing multiple projects and production schedules.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise the day-to-day operations of the workshop to ensure production targets are achieved safely and efficiently.
- Lead, mentor, and support boilermakers, welders, fitters, machinists, apprentices, and workshop personnel.
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor fabrication, welding, machining, and manufacturing activities.
- Allocate work, manage manpower, and ensure jobs are completed within agreed timeframes and quality standards.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication plans, and technical specifications to support production activities.
- Monitor workflow, identify production bottlenecks, and implement process improvements to maximize efficiency.
- Ensure all fabrication and manufacturing work complies with engineering specifications, quality requirements, and customer expectations.
- Oversee workshop equipment maintenance and ensure machinery, tools, and lifting equipment remain in safe operating condition.
- Maintain inventory of materials, consumables, tools, and workshop supplies while coordinating procurement requirements.
- Enforce workplace health and safety regulations, including risk assessments, Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and company safety procedures.
- Conduct toolbox meetings, safety briefings, and performance reviews with workshop staff.
- Monitor quality control processes, inspect completed work, and resolve technical or production issues.
- Prepare production reports, maintenance records, timesheets, and workshop documentation.
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, suppliers, and clients to ensure successful project delivery.
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity, quality, and workplace safety.
- Perform additional management and operational duties as required.
