Committee Australia is seeking skilled Welders to perform structural steel welding, fabrication, and repair work for industrial and mining projects. The successful candidates will produce high-quality welds, interpret engineering drawings, and ensure all fabrication work complies with Australian quality, safety, and engineering standards.

Qualifications:
- Proven experience in structural steel welding with the ability to successfully pass a 3G/4G welding test.
- Extensive hands-on experience in Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), gouging, oxy cutting, and structural steel fabrication.
- Experience with MMAW/SMAW, SAW, and GTAW welding processes is highly desirable.
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, welding symbols, technical specifications, and welding procedures.
- High Risk Work License (Dogging and/or Forklift) is an advantage.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Knowledge of workshop machinery, fabrication equipment, and welding tools.
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices and risk management procedures.
- Able to work independently or collaboratively within a fabrication team.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality welds.
- Willingness to undergo alcohol and drug testing in accordance with company policies.
- Leadership skills with the ability to mentor apprentices and trades assistants.
Responsibilities:
- Perform structural steel welding using approved welding procedures and specifications.
- Carry out Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), gouging, oxy cutting, and structural steel fabrication.
- Operate various welding processes, including FCAW, MMAW/SMAW, SAW, and GTAW, as required.
- Read and interpret shop drawings, fabrication drawings, welding symbols, joint preparations, and welding procedure specifications (WPS).
- Prepare, align, fit, and tack steel components before welding.
- Inspect welds for quality and carry out repairs or rework when necessary.
- Use grinders, cutting equipment, measuring instruments, and fabrication tools to prepare and finish welded components.
- Plan work sequences to meet production schedules and project deadlines.
- Conduct pre-start inspections of welding equipment and maintain tools in safe working condition.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures, including Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), Take 5 risk assessments, and hazard reporting.
- Maintain accurate production records, timesheets, and defect reports.
- Participate in toolbox meetings and safety briefings.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Mentor apprentices and trade assistants by providing technical guidance and promoting safe work practices.
- Perform other welding and fabrication duties assigned by supervisors.
