WELDER FABRICATOR

Qualifications:

• Male applicants are preferred for this role.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant overseas construction/fabrication experience with demonstrated competency in both plate fabrication
  and plate welding.
• Welding Processes: Proficiency in MIG/GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, and Air Gouging for plate welding applications.
  Fabrication Skills: Proficiency in plate layout, marking, thermal cutting, edge preparation, fit-up, and assembly.
• Plate Welding: Demonstrated experience welding structural and pressure-grade plate including thick section multi-pass groove welds, fillet welds, and back-gouging
• Welding Positions: Must be able to weld plate in all positions: flat (1G/1F), horizontal (2G/2F), vertical (3G/3F), and overhead (4G/4F).
• Assembly: Must be able to independently perform full structural assembly works including tackwelding prior to final welding
• WPS Understanding: Must be able to read, interpret, and work in strict compliance with Welding Procedure Specifications (
• Certification: AWS, ASME, or equivalent welding certifications are an advantage; fabrication trade certificates also advantageous
• Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and fabrication sketches
• Safety: Knowledge of UAE workplace safety standards and proper use of PPE at all times
• Preferred Skills :Experience in structural plate fabrication and welding for shipbuilding, offshore, pressure vessel, or industrial construction.
• Preferred Skills:Familiarity with NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) requirements and visual weld inspection standards.
• Knowledge of pre- and post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) and distortion control for plate applications
• Ability to work independently and manage the complete fabrication-to-welding workflow with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to weld quality, fit-up accuracy, and dimensional correctness.
• Team player with good communication skills in English; Arabic or Tagalog is an advantage

Responsibilities:

• Perform the complete fabrication and welding cycle for plate steel structures: from raw material layout and cutting through fit-up, assembly,
  tacking, and final welding.
• Produce plate metal components and assemblies in accordance with customer or employer specifications, drawings, WPS, and quality
  requirements
• Operate multiple welding machines and fabrication tools to fabricate, repair, and maintain plate structures of various sizes and thickness.
• Read and interpret engineering diagrams, fabrication sketches, WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications), and blueprints to determine required
  operations, materials, and timeframes
• Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment, cutting tools, and fabrication machinery as required for plate work.
• Implement all personal and company safety measures including use of appropriate PPE — goggles, helmets, gloves, and flame-resistant clothing.
• Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients to ensure project requirements are met on time and to specification.
• Mark out and cut structural plate using oxy-fuel torches, plasma cutters, or mechanical tools as per drawing dimensions and tolerances
• Prepare plate edges by grinding, chipping, or gouging to achieve correct bevel angle, root face, and surface cleanliness as specified in the WPS
• Fit and assemble plate structures including shells, flanges, stiffeners, brackets, and base plates; use strongbacks, clamps, wedges, and positioning fixtures to maintain alignment
• Perform structural tack welding to secure assemblies prior to final welding; ensure tacks are correct size and quality per welding procedures
• Perform plate welding using SMAW, GMAW, and FCAW processes; execute multi-pass groove and fillet welds in all positions (flat 1G/1F, horizontal 2G/2F, vertical 3G/3F, overhead 4G/4F).
• Apply correct preheat and interpass temperature controls per WPS; perform back-gouging as required; manage distortion through proper fit-up
  and weld sequence
• Verify dimensional accuracy of assemblies and weld quality using measuring tools and visual inspection; correct deviations prior to and after
  welding
• Operate related equipment and tools including forklifts, hoists, slings, grinders (portable & bench), cutting torches, hand tools, drills, and Air Arc gouging equipment
• Keep all welding and fabrication equipment operational through preventive maintenance; complete daily inspection check sheet
• Read, understand, and follow job order specifications, blueprints, work instructions, and applicable welding procedures (WPS/PQR).
• Participate in process improvement programs, team meetings, and quality focus groups
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by strictly complying with company procedures, rules, and UAE safety regulations.
