Welder Fabricator

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural steel fabrication and welding.
• Must hold a Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Trade qualification such as Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication Trade) or equivalent internationally recognized certification is preferred.
• Strong experience in welding processes: MIG, TIG, and Stick welding.
• Experience in operating plasma cutting machines and CNC beamline equipment (Voortman experience highly preferred).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and NC files.
• Experience operating overhead cranes and forklifts.
• Knowledge of Work Health and Safety (WHS) practices.
• Strong English communication skills for coordination with supervisors and team members.
• Must have completed at least 1 year of vocational or college education.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications for steel fabrication.
• Fabricate, cut, and prepare structural steel materials including plates, I-beams, U-beams, tubes, and angles.
• Operate plasma cutting machines, including Plazmax CutAce, for precise steel plate cutting.
• Operate beamline and cutting equipment such as Voortman Beamline (V631) and VB1050 Bandsaw for drilling, milling, marking, and cutting.
• Upload and manage NC files for plasma and beamline machinery operations.
• Perform welding using GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), and SMAW (Stick) processes.
• Conduct routine machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and replacement of consumables.
• Inspect raw materials and finished products to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
• Load and unload materials using overhead gantry cranes and forklifts in accordance with safety procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness and efficiency of machines and work areas.
• Coordinate with the Factory Manager and production team to meet project deadlines.
• Adhere strictly to Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations, including proper use of PPE.
• Support production requirements, including night shift work when required.
