601 Engineering Ltd. is seeking a qualified System / Network Administrator for an overseas work opportunity in Papua New Guinea. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting computer systems, servers, network infrastructure, IT equipment, and connectivity solutions.

The role will provide IT support for employees and project operations, including construction sites, temporary project offices, and remote locations.

SYSTEM / NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR

Qualifications:

• Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Must have at least 2–5 years of experience in system administration, network administration, IT support, or a related position.
• Experience in construction, engineering, project sites, remote locations, or similar environments is highly advantageous.
• Must have good knowledge of Windows Server, Microsoft 365, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Must have practical experience troubleshooting computer systems, networks, hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
• Must understand basic network administration, system security, user access management, and IT infrastructure maintenance.
• Must have strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Must be capable of providing technical support to users with varying levels of IT knowledge.
• Must be willing to work in construction sites, project offices, and remote locations when required.
• Must be adaptable, reliable, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently or as part of an IT team.

Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computer systems, servers, network devices, and IT equipment.
• Manage and maintain LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, routers, switches, firewalls, and internet connections.
• Monitor network performance, system availability, and connectivity and resolve technical issues promptly.
• Provide technical support to employees for hardware, software, email, printers, user accounts, and other IT-related concerns.
• Set up and maintain IT infrastructure for construction sites, temporary project offices, and remote locations.
• Configure and maintain network devices, servers, workstations, and related IT equipment.
• Troubleshoot network connectivity, system performance, hardware, software, and communication problems.
• Assist with user account management, access controls, system updates, backups, and security procedures.
• Monitor network and system performance and identify potential issues before they affect operations.
• Maintain IT documentation, network configurations, equipment inventories, and technical records.
• Assist with implementing and maintaining appropriate network security, firewall, VPN, and access-control measures.
• Coordinate with vendors, service providers, and other IT personnel for technical support and equipment requirements.
• Install software, perform system updates, and ensure computers and IT equipment are properly configured.
• Support IT systems in remote and challenging project environments.
• Follow company IT policies, cybersecurity procedures, data protection requirements, and workplace safety standards.
