SUPERMARKET MANAGER (Retail Manager)
Qualifications:
- Must have at least 3 years of proven experience managing day-to-day retail operations.
- Must have experience in inventory control, stock replenishment, store procedures, and retail operations.
- Must have strong leadership skills with experience in recruiting, training, scheduling, and supervising staff.
- Must have demonstrated ability to drive sales performance, set targets, and deliver excellent customer service.
- Must have experience in budgeting, expense control, payroll monitoring, refunds, and price adjustments.
- Must have knowledge of health, safety, food compliance, inspections, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Must have experience with supplier and vendor management, contract negotiation, deliveries, and stock rotation.
- Must have good English communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must have strong organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, and customer service skills.
- Must be capable of managing multiple store operations and priorities in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Must be willing to work flexible retail schedules, including weekends and holidays when required.
- Must be able to drive and hold a valid driver’s licence, subject to applicable Australian licensing requirements.
- Must be reliable, professional, organized, and capable of working independently and leading a retail team.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee day-to-day supermarket and retail operations, ensuring smooth and efficient store performance.
- Supervise inventory control, stock replenishment, product availability, stock rotation, and merchandising.
- Monitor store procedures and ensure employees follow established operational standards.
- Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, motivate, and evaluate supermarket staff.
- Assign duties and manage employee schedules to ensure adequate staffing levels.
- Set sales targets, monitor sales performance, and implement strategies to achieve revenue and business objectives.
- Deliver and maintain excellent customer service standards and address customer concerns professionally.
- Manage store budgets, operating expenses, payroll monitoring, and cost-control activities.
- Monitor refunds, price adjustments, discounts, and other retail transactions according to company policies.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors regarding product orders, pricing, deliveries, quality, and stock availability.
- Assist with supplier negotiations, contracts, purchasing arrangements, and vendor relationships.
- Coordinate deliveries and ensure proper receiving, storage, stock rotation, and product handling.
- Monitor product quality, expiry dates, and food safety requirements where applicable.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, food safety, hygiene, and regulatory standards.
- Prepare for and coordinate internal and external inspections and ensure corrective actions are implemented when necessary.
- Monitor store cleanliness, organization, security, and overall presentation.
- Analyze sales, inventory, staffing, and operational reports to identify areas for improvement.
- Implement procedures to minimize stock losses, wastage, theft, and operational expenses.
- Maintain accurate store records, reports, inventory documentation, and administrative files.
- Coordinate with management regarding store performance, staffing, inventory, sales, and operational issues.
- Perform other retail management duties as assigned.
