Franklin Smith Limited is seeking experienced Structural Welders to join its team in New Zealand. The successful candidates will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and welding structural steel components for construction and industrial projects while ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and workplace safety requirements.

Structural Welder

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of overseas experience as a Structural Welder or in a similar role.
• Strong technical knowledge and practical trade skills in structural steel welding and fabrication.
• Ability to read and interpret technical plans, drawings, specifications, and safety procedures.
• Good spoken and written English communication skills.
• Capable of working independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Safety-conscious, reliable, detail-oriented, and committed to producing high-quality workmanship.

Responsibilities:

• Perform welding and fabrication of structural steel components according to technical drawings and project specifications.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, welding plans, and fabrication documents.
• Assemble, fit, align, and secure steel structures before welding.
• Perform various welding techniques as required, ensuring strong and accurate welds.
• Inspect completed welds and fabricated structures to ensure quality and compliance with standards.
• Operate welding equipment, tools, and machinery safely and effectively.
• Carry out cutting, grinding, and preparation of steel materials as required.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment.
• Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and other trades to complete projects efficiently.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized condition.
