Woongnam Engineering & Construction, Lda is seeking an experienced Steel Structure Inspector to ensure that structural steel fabrication and erection activities comply with approved engineering drawings, project specifications, quality standards, and applicable codes. The successful candidate will perform inspections throughout fabrication, welding, and installation to ensure the integrity and quality of steel structures

STEEL STRUCTURE INSPECTOR

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience as a Steel Structure Inspector or QA/QC Structural Inspector.
• Must hold a Bachelor’s/College Degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Male applicants are preferred for this role.
• Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication, erection, and welding inspection procedures.
• Experience reviewing Mill Test Certificates (MTCs), Inspection Release Notes (IRNs), and material traceability documentation.
• Familiarity with visual welding inspection and coordination or verification of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods such as UT and RT.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and project specifications.
• Knowledge of international quality standards, structural steel codes, and QA/QC documentation is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
• Willing to work in Mozambique and comply with company safety, quality, and project standards.

Responsibilities:

• Inspect structural steel fit-ups, grating alignment, kick-plate, ladder, handrail, and other steel installations before welding or final assembly.
• Verify dimensional accuracy, alignment, plumbness, and levelness of fabricated and erected steel structures.
• Inspect incoming structural materials such as steel plates, I-beams, channels, pipes, and other components.
• Cross-check Mill Test Certificates (MTCs), Inspection Release Notes (IRNs), and material traceability documents against approved project specifications.
• Conduct visual inspections of welded joints and verify compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and project requirements.
• Coordinate, witness, or verify Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities, including Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Dye Penetrant Testing (PT), as applicable.
• Review NDT reports and ensure corrective actions are completed for any identified defects or non-conformities.
• Ensure fabrication and erection activities comply with applicable international codes, standards, and client specifications.
• Prepare inspection reports, quality documentation, punch lists, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
• Coordinate with engineers, QA/QC personnel, welders, fabricators, and project supervisors to resolve quality issues.
• Participate in final inspections, client walk-throughs, and project handover activities.
• Follow workplace health, safety, and environmental regulations during all inspection activities.
• Perform other QA/QC and structural inspection duties as assigned.
