Woongnam Engineering & Construction, Lda is seeking experienced Riggers to support lifting and heavy construction operations in Mozambique. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely preparing, securing, and directing lifting activities involving heavy equipment and structural materials while ensuring compliance with industry safety standards.

RIGGER

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience as a Rigger.
• Must be at least a high school graduate.
• Male applicants are preferred for this role.
• Must have experience operating or working with Manlifts (MEWP/Aerial Work Platforms).
• Must possess a valid TESDA NC II Certificate in Rigging or a related trade.
• Must hold a valid Third-Party Certification issued by recognized organizations such as TÜV, Velosi, Bureau Veritas, or equivalent.
• Knowledge of lifting operations, rigging techniques, load calculations, and lifting safety standards.
• Familiarity with inspection and proper use of rigging equipment and accessories.
• Physically fit and able to work at heights and in demanding construction environments.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and teamwork.
• Willing to work in Mozambique and comply with company safety and project standards.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare, inspect, and attach lifting gear such as slings, shackles, chains, wire ropes, hooks, and spreader bars before lifting operations.
• Rig, secure, and position heavy loads for safe lifting, transportation, and installation.
• Guide crane operators during lifting operations using standard hand signals or approved communication devices.
• Perform pre-use inspections of rigging equipment and remove defective gear from service.
• Calculate load weights and determine the appropriate rigging methods and lifting equipment.
• Assist in loading, unloading, positioning, and erecting structural steel, equipment, and other heavy materials.
• Operate and work safely using manlifts (MEWP/Aerial Work Platforms) when required.
• Ensure lifting activities comply with approved lifting plans, safety procedures, and project requirements.
• Maintain housekeeping in lifting and work areas to prevent hazards.
• Coordinate with crane operators, supervisors, and construction personnel to ensure safe and efficient operations.
• Report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, or incidents immediately.
• Perform other rigging-related duties as assigned.
