SHIPYARD FITTER SUPERVISOR

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent, often with technical training in welding or fabrication.
• Strong proficiency in blueprint reading, layout, cutting (torch), and structural fitting processes.
• High physical stamina, capable of lifting, bending, and working in tight spaces or at heights.
• Proficient with fabrication tools like grinders, drills, and welding machines.

Responsibilities:

• Interprets blueprints to layout, cut, shape, and assemble metal components (I-beams, plates) into structural frameworks using tools like torches, grinders, and welding equipment
• Blueprint Reading: Analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine layout and materials.
• Layout and Fabrication: Mark reference points, cut, shape, and bend metal parts using tools such as gas/plasma torches, shearers, and drills.
• Assembly and Fitting: Assemble parts, align edges, and secure components using jigs, clamps, hammers, and grinders.
• Tack Welding: Perform basic welding (tack welding) to hold components in place before final welding.
• Material Handling: Position heavy components using cranes, hoists, and rigging equipment.
• Quality Inspection: Verify dimensions, check for defects, and ensure structural accuracy against blueprints.
• Safety and Maintenance: Adhere to safety protocols (PPE), maintain equipment, and keep the work area organized.

Requirements:

• Must have a valid passport for more than 3 years
• Employment certificates
• NBI clearance valid for at least 1 year with “no derogatory / no record on file” remarks
• PEOS certificate
