AGS Global Services Pty Ltd. is seeking a skilled Ship Welder with experience in the construction, repair, and maintenance of wooden, composite, and fiberglass vessels. The ideal candidate will have strong craftsmanship, technical knowledge, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in workshop or dockyard environments.
SHIP WELDER
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of working experience in shipbuilding or marine repair.
- Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in relevant fields or similar.
- Proficient in English (speaking and understanding).
- Skilled in interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Experienced in lofting, pattern-making, cutting, shaping, and joining timbers.
- Knowledgeable in modern boatbuilding techniques, adhesives, resins, and lamination processes.
- Able to perform hull repairs, modifications, and refits to meet safety and design standards.
- Proficient in fitting out interiors, joinery, cabinetry, and fine finishing work.
- Knowledge of marine coatings, varnishing, painting, and surface preparation.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and compliance with maritime standards.
- Ability to solve structural and aesthetic issues effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship with focus on quality finishes.
Responsibilities:
- Construct, repair, and maintain wooden, composite, and fiberglass vessels.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and project specifications accurately.
- Perform lofting, pattern-making, cutting, shaping, and joining of timbers.
- Install and repair marine structures, bulkheads, decking, and cabinetry.
- Apply modern boatbuilding techniques, adhesives, resins, and lamination processes.
- Fit out vessel interiors including joinery, cabinetry, and fine finishing work.
- Perform hull repairs, modifications, and refits according to safety and design standards.
- Apply marine coatings, varnishes, and paints following proper surface preparation techniques.
- Maintain a safe work environment and comply with maritime safety regulations.
- Work independently or as part of a team to meet project deadlines and client requirements.
