We are seeking an experienced Senior Stockperson (Piggery) to oversee and manage daily piggery operations in a commercial breeding facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising livestock management, ensuring animal welfare standards, maintaining production efficiency, and supporting farm compliance and biosecurity requirements.
SENIOR STOCKPERSON (Piggery)
Qualifications:
- Must have 3–5 years recent hands-on experience in a commercial piggery farm (minimum 500 sow level)
(backyard farm experience not accepted) - Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, or related 4-year course
- For college undergraduates: must have a valid English certificate and 5–7 years relevant experience
- Must have a valid passport
- Strong knowledge of piggery operations, breeding, and herd management
- Ability to supervise staff and manage farm operations
Responsibilities:
- Supervise site operations including human resources, equipment, safety, and consumables
- Maintain compliance with Company Quality Assurance Program and ensure documentation is updated
- Supervise accurate data collection for stock and inventory control
- Implement preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime
- Oversee trial sheds and ensure proper data recording according to protocols
- Select breeding stock and pigs for sale
- Supervise daily livestock inspection, feeding, watering, and environmental monitoring
- Identify, treat, and record compromised animals under herd health plans
- Euthanize sick or injured animals humanely when necessary, following welfare codes
- Conduct post-mortem examinations and report findings when required
- Assist in artificial insemination processes and semen collection duties
- Supervise mating and birthing processes, including monitoring and intervention when necessary
- Ensure animal welfare standards and industry codes of practice are strictly followed
- Participate in training, workshops, and continuous improvement programs
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Unit Manager
