Sand Blaster

Qualifications:

• At least five (5) years of relevant work experience as a Sand Blaster or in abrasive blasting operations.
• Previous experience in the oil and gas industry is preferred.
• Practical knowledge of abrasive blasting techniques and industrial surface preparation procedures.
• Familiarity with sandblasting machines, blasting pots, air compressors, blasting hoses, nozzles, and related equipment.
• Ability to identify surface contaminants, rust, old coatings, and other materials requiring removal before painting or coating.
• Knowledge of different abrasive materials and their proper use for various surface preparation requirements.
• Ability to follow surface preparation specifications, project instructions, and quality standards.
• Good understanding of workplace safety procedures, particularly when handling pressurized equipment and abrasive blasting materials.
• Physically fit and capable of performing demanding industrial work, including working in outdoor and potentially confined environments.

Responsibilities:

• Perform abrasive blasting and surface preparation on steel structures, pipelines, tanks, vessels, equipment, and other industrial components.
• Operate sandblasting machines and related equipment to remove rust, mill scale, old paint, dirt, and other surface contaminants.
• Prepare surfaces to the required cleanliness and surface profile according to project specifications.
• Select and use appropriate abrasive materials based on the type of surface and required blasting standard.
• Set up, inspect, and operate blasting pots, air compressors, hoses, nozzles, and other blasting equipment.
• Adjust blasting pressure and equipment settings according to work requirements and safety procedures.
• Monitor blasting operations to ensure consistent surface preparation quality.
• Inspect blasted surfaces for cleanliness, remaining contaminants, and compliance with specified standards.
• Protect nearby equipment, instruments, and surfaces from abrasive materials and blasting dust.
• Maintain blasting equipment, hoses, nozzles, and accessories in good working condition.
• Keep the work area clean and properly manage used abrasive materials and blasting waste.
• Follow project specifications, quality control procedures, and workplace health and safety regulations.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including approved blasting helmets, respiratory protection, and protective clothing.
• Coordinate with supervisors, painters, and coating personnel to ensure surfaces are properly prepared before painting.
• Perform other related abrasive blasting and industrial surface preparation duties as assigned.
