Relief Valve Shop Technician I

Qualifications:

• Must have a minimum of 4–6 years of relevant experience in relief valve maintenance, valve repair, mechanical maintenance, or a related industrial field.
• Must have experience working in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Fertilizer Plants, Refineries, Chemical Plants, or similar industrial facilities.
• Must be capable of performing routine maintenance and repair work involving relief valves and related mechanical equipment.
• Must have practical knowledge of pressure relief valves, safety valves, valve components, testing, repair, and maintenance procedures.
• Experience with relief valve disassembly, inspection, lapping, reassembly, pressure testing, and calibration is highly advantageous.
• Must be able to read and understand technical drawings, valve specifications, equipment manuals, and maintenance instructions.
• Must be familiar with mechanical hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and valve testing equipment.
• Knowledge of industrial pressure equipment and applicable safety requirements is an advantage.
• Must be physically capable of performing workshop and industrial maintenance work.
• Must be safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively as part of a maintenance team.

Responsibilities:

• Inspect, dismantle, clean, repair, reassemble, and test pressure relief valves and safety valves.
• Perform routine maintenance and repair work on relief valves and associated components.
• Inspect valve bodies, springs, seats, discs, nozzles, gaskets, and other components for wear, damage, corrosion, and defects.
• Clean and prepare valve components for inspection, repair, and reassembly.
• Replace worn or damaged parts and ensure proper assembly according to technical specifications.
• Perform pressure testing, seat testing, leak testing, and functional testing of relief valves as required.
• Assist with valve calibration and adjustment to ensure valves operate at the required set pressure.
• Use appropriate hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, test equipment, and workshop machinery.
• Read and interpret valve specifications, technical drawings, manuals, and maintenance instructions.
• Maintain accurate records of valve inspections, repairs, testing, calibration, and replaced components.
• Identify defective or unsafe valve components and report findings to supervisors or engineers.
• Coordinate with mechanical technicians, maintenance personnel, engineers, and operations teams.
• Maintain the valve workshop, tools, testing equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
• Follow established workshop procedures, permit-to-work requirements, quality standards, and industrial safety practices.
