Carpenters Automotive and Transport Limited is currently hiring a Panel Manager for its operations in Papua New Guinea. This opportunity is ideal for experienced automotive and collision repair professionals with strong leadership, estimating, insurance coordination, and workshop management experience.
Panel Manager
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (or related field) or equivalent qualification
- Diploma in Automotive Engineering, Business Management, or relevant field is an advantage
- Proven experience as a Panel Manager or similar role in collision repair or automotive workshop operations
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems and vehicle damage assessment
- Experience in collision center repair, estimating, and insurance coordination (at least 2 years preferred)
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- Experience using automotive management or estimating software
- Understanding of safety and environmental standards
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to handle conflict resolution and make effective decisions under pressure
Responsibilities:
- Accurately assess vehicle damage and prepare cost-effective repair appraisals to ensure customer satisfaction and operational profitability.
- Prepare detailed computerized cost analyses including materials, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead expenses.
- Review and audit insurance estimates and manage supplemental claims where necessary.
- Supervise workshop staff and manage daily workshop scheduling to ensure smooth workflow.
- Ensure efficient movement of vehicles through the repair process from intake to completion.
- Liaise with insurers, suppliers, and vehicle assessors while maintaining strong professional relationships.
- Monitor and improve operational efficiency, business processes, and customer service standards.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve workshop performance through process optimization.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in all workshop activities.
- Lead, train, and motivate team members to achieve performance targets and quality standards.
- Resolve customer complaints and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Monitor workshop performance indicators and implement corrective actions when needed.
