PAINTING SUPERVISOR
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial painting/coating, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory role.
- Graduate of a four-year undergraduate course.
- Experience in mining, oil & gas, marine, or heavy industrial environments is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surface preparation standards (e.g., SSPC, NACE) and coating techniques.
- Experience in abrasive blasting, spray painting, and protective coating systems.
- Ability to read and interpret coating specifications, technical data sheets, and drawings.
- Familiarity with QA/QC procedures and coating inspection requirements.
- Minimum NACE Level 1 Certification (required); higher certifications (NACE Level 2/3, BGAS, or ICorr) are an advantage.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Knowledge of Work Health and Safety (WHS) practices and hazardous material handling.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate all industrial painting and coating activities on-site.
- Plan, schedule, and oversee surface preparation, blasting, and painting works for structural steel, piping, tanks, and plant equipment.
- Ensure proper application of protective coatings, anti-corrosion systems, and industrial paints.
- Monitor compliance with coating specifications, QA/QC standards, and inspection procedures.
- Conduct inspections of surface preparation prior to coating application.
- Supervise mixing, handling, and application of coatings (epoxy, polyurethane, and specialized coatings).
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of painting and blasting equipment.
- Coordinate with engineers, inspectors, and supervisors to meet timelines and quality targets.
- Maintain accurate records of work progress, materials, and inspection reports.
- Enforce Work Health and Safety (WHS) procedures, including PPE and hazardous material handling.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of painters, blasters, and trades personnel.
- Support shutdowns, maintenance, and project work in remote mining environments.
- Report issues, delays, or non-conformances to management.
