MECHANIC
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience as a Small Engine Mechanic or in a similar mechanical trade.
- Candidates must possess a Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or a related mechanical field.
- Trade qualification in Small Engine Mechanics or a related mechanical discipline is preferred.
- Proven experience repairing and maintaining petrol and diesel-powered small engines.
- Strong experience servicing and repairing outdoor power and hire equipment, including chainsaws, brush cutters, lawn mowers, ride-on mowers, rotary hoes, generators, water pumps, plate compactors, pressure cleaners, mini excavators, and similar equipment.
- Sound knowledge of 2-stroke and 4-stroke engine systems.
- Excellent fault-finding, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance, servicing, repairs, and equipment testing in accordance with manufacturer standards.
- Ability to read and interpret service manuals, technical documentation, wiring diagrams, and parts catalogues.
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Current driver’s license is required.
- Forklift license is an advantage.
- Must have completed at least one (1) year of vocational study or one (1) year in college.
- Good English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Reliable, safety-conscious, and committed to producing high-quality workmanship.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, service, maintain, and repair a wide range of petrol and diesel-powered small engine equipment to ensure all equipment is safe, reliable, and Ready-To-Hire.
- Perform scheduled servicing and preventive maintenance on generators, chainsaws, brush cutters, lawn mowers, ride-on mowers, rotary hoes, water pumps, plate compactors, pressure cleaners, mini excavators, and other hire equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment and manufacturer procedures.
- Dismantle, inspect, overhaul, repair, and reassemble engines, transmissions, and mechanical components.
- Repair or replace defective components including carburetors, fuel systems, ignition systems, starters, alternators, bearings, seals, belts, filters, gaskets, and other engine parts.
- Test equipment following repairs to verify safe operation and compliance with manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain accurate service records, repair reports, inspection documentation, and maintenance logbooks.
- Apply Ready-To-Hire and Out of Service tags where required and report major repair or replacement requirements to management.
- Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and spare parts inventory while ensuring the workshop remains clean, organized, and safe.
- Receive, organize, and manage spare parts deliveries and recommend stock replenishment when required.
- Provide technical support to branch staff and assist in preparing equipment during busy operational periods.
- Undertake occasional delivery and collection of hire equipment and assist with loading and unloading equipment at customer locations.
- Deliver professional customer service and represent the company in a courteous and professional manner.
- Participate in toolbox meetings, workplace safety training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Comply with all Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) policies, procedures, and company standards.
- Perform other related duties assigned by management.
