Asco Motors is seeking an experienced and skilled Marine Technician to diagnose, service, repair, and maintain marine engines and related mechanical and electrical systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring outboard engines and other marine equipment operate safely, efficiently, and reliably while maintaining high standards of technical workmanship.

Qualifications:

• Must have a Technical or Vocational qualification in Automotive, Motorcycle Technology, Marine Engineering, Small Engine Repair, or a related field.
• Must have three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience.
• Must have experience in motorcycle, small engine, or outboard engine repair.
• Must have knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Yamaha experience or certification is an advantage.
• Good understanding of engine components, fuel systems, cooling systems, ignition systems, and electrical components.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems accurately and efficiently.
• Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and other workshop equipment.
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs according to established procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
• Ability to follow technical instructions, service procedures, and safety requirements.
• Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Able to work independently and effectively as part of a technical workshop team.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new marine engine technologies and repair procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Inspect and diagnose outboard engines and marine equipment to identify mechanical and electrical faults.
• Perform routine servicing, preventive maintenance, and repairs on marine engines.
• Repair and maintain outboard engines, small engines, motorcycles, and related equipment as required.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, fuel, cooling, ignition, and starting systems.
• Conduct engine testing and performance checks following repairs and maintenance.
• Use diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and workshop tools correctly and safely.
• Remove, disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble engine components.
• Replace worn, damaged, or defective components using appropriate replacement parts.
• Perform adjustments and tune-ups to ensure optimum engine performance.
• Inspect electrical wiring, batteries, charging systems, switches, and other electrical components.
• Follow manufacturer specifications, technical procedures, and recommended service schedules.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, servicing, and parts used.
• Identify additional repair or maintenance requirements and report findings to supervisors or management.
• Ensure all completed work meets established quality and safety standards.
• Keep tools, equipment, and the workshop clean, organized, and properly maintained.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures when handling engines, electrical systems, fuel, lubricants, and workshop equipment.
• Assist with testing and commissioning repaired marine engines and equipment.
• Keep updated with relevant technical information, repair methods, and manufacturer recommendations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
