Machinery Maintenance Supervisor
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field, subject to the employer’s requirements.
- Relevant experience in industrial machinery maintenance, mechanical repair, or heavy equipment maintenance is required.
- Previous experience in a machinery maintenance supervisory role is preferred.
- Experience in cement manufacturing, mining, heavy industry, or a similar industrial environment is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of industrial mechanical systems, machinery components, and maintenance procedures.
- Familiarity with crushers, conveyors, mills, pumps, fans, gearboxes, motors, bearings, and other industrial equipment.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical faults and coordinate effective troubleshooting and repair activities.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance planning, corrective maintenance, and equipment reliability practices.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, technical manuals, equipment specifications, and maintenance instructions.
- Understanding of mechanical alignment, lubrication, bearings, couplings, and rotating equipment maintenance.
- Experience preparing maintenance schedules, work orders, equipment records, and technical reports.
- Ability to supervise maintenance personnel, allocate tasks, and monitor work quality and productivity.
- Strong leadership, communication, coordination, and decision-making skills.
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of industrial safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and permit-to-work systems.
- Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to urgent machinery breakdowns.
- Physically fit to work in an industrial plant environment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours or shifts when required by operational needs.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily machinery maintenance activities and ensure that work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to schedule.
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance for industrial machinery.
- Supervise mechanics, maintenance technicians, fitters, and other personnel assigned to machinery maintenance.
- Inspect machinery and equipment to identify wear, damage, abnormal vibration, overheating, noise, leaks, and other signs of malfunction.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and coordinate appropriate troubleshooting, repair, and replacement activities.
- Oversee the dismantling, repair, reassembly, alignment, and testing of mechanical equipment.
- Coordinate maintenance of cement plant machinery, including crushers, conveyors, mills, fans, pumps, gearboxes, motors, bearings, and other equipment, as applicable.
- Ensure that maintenance activities follow manufacturer recommendations, technical specifications, and approved procedures.
- Develop maintenance schedules and prioritize urgent repairs to minimize unplanned downtime.
- Coordinate with production, electrical, instrumentation, and workshop teams to ensure timely maintenance support.
- Monitor equipment condition and maintenance performance to improve machinery reliability and availability.
- Review work orders, maintenance reports, equipment histories, and inspection findings.
- Ensure that replacement parts, lubricants, tools, and other maintenance materials are available when needed.
- Coordinate with warehouse and procurement personnel regarding spare parts and material requirements.
- Verify the quality of completed maintenance work and confirm that equipment is safe for operation before returning it to service.
- Ensure proper lubrication, mechanical alignment, adjustment, and calibration activities are carried out where applicable.
- Identify recurring machinery failures and recommend corrective actions to prevent repeated breakdowns.
- Assist in root-cause investigations and implement measures to improve equipment performance and service life.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment breakdowns, labor allocation, spare parts usage, and job completion.
- Enforce workplace safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, permit-to-work requirements, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ensure maintenance personnel follow safe work practices when handling machinery, tools, lifting equipment, and hazardous materials.
- Monitor housekeeping and ensure maintenance work areas remain clean, organized, and free from unnecessary hazards.
- Train, guide, and support maintenance personnel to improve technical competence and safety awareness.
- Report major equipment failures, maintenance delays, material shortages, and operational concerns to management.
- Perform other machinery maintenance and supervisory duties as assigned.
