Carpenter Automotive & Transport Limited / Boroko Motors is seeking a skilled and experienced Light Vehicle Technician to join its service team in Papua New Guinea. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining light vehicles while ensuring all work is performed in accordance with manufacturer specifications, safety standards, and company quality requirements.

LIGHT VEHICLE TECHNICIAN

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant experience in the automotive industry.
• Previous experience as a Light Vehicle Technician or Automotive Technician is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of light vehicle mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
• Proficient in using automotive diagnostic tools and workshop equipment.
• Ability to diagnose faults and perform repairs efficiently and accurately.
• Good understanding of preventive maintenance and manufacturer service procedures.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced workshop environment.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs on light vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
• Inspect vehicle systems, identify defects, and recommend necessary repairs.
• Repair or replace faulty components, including engines, transmissions, suspension, steering, braking, and electrical systems.
• Carry out preventive maintenance to ensure vehicle reliability and performance.
• Conduct road tests to verify repairs and ensure vehicles meet operational standards.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, service bulletins, and repair procedures.
• Maintain accurate service records and complete repair documentation.
• Ensure tools, equipment, and the work area are maintained in a clean and safe condition.
• Work collaboratively with workshop personnel to achieve productivity and quality targets.
