Interlink Shipping Line Pte. Ltd. is seeking a dedicated and skilled Junior Mechanic to assist in the maintenance and repair of vessel engines, mechanical systems, and auxiliary equipment. Working under the supervision of the Mechanical Engineer or Senior Mechanic, the successful candidate will support preventive maintenance, routine servicing, inspections, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs to ensure vessels operate safely and efficiently. Experience working on Japanese buses or trucks (Isuzu and Hino) is highly preferred.
JUNIOR MECHANIC
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years of relevant working experience as a Mechanic or in a similar mechanical maintenance role.
- Experience working on Japanese buses or trucks, particularly Isuzu and Hino, is required.
- Technical training or certification in Automotive, Diesel, or Mechanical Technology is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, mechanical systems, preventive maintenance, and repair procedures.
- Ability to use mechanical hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Physically fit and capable of performing manual work in a workshop or marine environment.
- Willing to learn marine engineering systems and adapt to shipboard maintenance requirements.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a safety-focused environment.
- Willing to work in Fiji and comply with company policies, maritime regulations, and workplace safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the servicing, maintenance, and repair of marine engines, propulsion systems, and auxiliary mechanical equipment.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, including lubrication, cleaning, adjustments, and equipment inspections.
- Replace worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts and components under the guidance of senior engineering personnel.
- Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting engine, transmission, hydraulic, and mechanical system faults.
- Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Report equipment defects, abnormal operating conditions, and maintenance issues requiring immediate attention.
- Support emergency repair work to minimize vessel downtime and maintain operational readiness.
- Follow workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures during all maintenance activities.
- Assist in maintaining accurate maintenance records, service reports, and equipment inspection logs.
- Learn and apply marine engineering best practices, company procedures, and manufacturer recommendations.
- Collaborate effectively with the Mechanical Engineer, Senior Mechanic, and other maintenance personnel.
- Perform other related duties assigned by management.
