Instrument Technician
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an Instrument Technician in an industrial, manufacturing, processing, energy, or similar plant environment.
- Strong practical knowledge of industrial instrumentation and control systems.
- Experience with pressure, temperature, flow, level, analytical, and process-control instrumentation.
- Knowledge of PLC, DCS, SCADA, alarm, interlock, shutdown, and safety-instrumented systems.
- Ability to calibrate instruments using appropriate test equipment and approved procedures.
- Ability to troubleshoot pneumatic, electronic, electrical, and digital instrumentation systems.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, instrument datasheets, and technical manuals.
- Knowledge of control valves, actuators, positioners, I/P converters, and solenoid valves.
- Experience performing instrument loop checks, functional testing, commissioning, and startup activities.
- Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance practices and maintenance management systems such as CMMS.
- Understanding of hazardous-area instrumentation, isolation procedures, lockout/tagout, and permit-to-work systems.
- Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Good documentation and reporting skills with attention to accuracy and detail.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with electrical, mechanical, operations, process, and automation teams.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety, environmental protection, quality, and equipment reliability.
- Ability to work during plant shutdowns, turnarounds, commissioning, and other demanding operational periods.
- Reliable, disciplined, safety-conscious, and capable of working independently or as part of a technical team.
Responsibilities:
- Install, commission, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial instrumentation and control equipment.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on pressure transmitters and gauges.
- Maintain and troubleshoot temperature transmitters, RTDs, and thermocouples.
- Inspect, calibrate, and maintain flow meters and flow transmitters.
- Maintain level transmitters, switches, and gauges.
- Maintain and troubleshoot control valves, actuators, positioners, and I/P converters.
- Service analytical instruments such as pH, conductivity, oxygen, and gas analyzers.
- Troubleshoot and support PLC, DCS, SCADA, and other control-system interfaces.
- Maintain and test alarm, interlock, shutdown, and safety-instrumented systems.
- Calibrate instruments using appropriate test equipment and approved procedures.
- Verify instrument accuracy against required standards, specifications, and calibration requirements.
- Diagnose instrument failures using loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools.
- Conduct instrument loop checks from field devices through junction boxes, marshalling panels, I/O cards, and control systems.
- Perform functional testing of control loops, alarms, trips, interlocks, and emergency shutdown systems.
- Inspect instrument installations for proper wiring, tubing, grounding, mounting, labeling, and environmental protection.
- Install and maintain instrument tubing, impulse lines, air lines, cable trays, junction boxes, and associated wiring.
- Troubleshoot pneumatic, electronic, electrical, and digital instrumentation problems.
- Maintain and repair pneumatic control valves, actuators, positioners, solenoid valves, and related components.
Assist with the installation and commissioning of new instrumentation and control systems. - Read and interpret P&IDs, instrument index sheets, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, datasheets, calibration procedures, and equipment manuals.
- Accurately record calibration results, maintenance activities, equipment failures, inspections, and corrective actions.
- Maintain instrument history and update maintenance management systems such as CMMS.
- Identify defective, damaged, or deteriorated components and recommend appropriate repair or replacement.
- Participate in plant shutdowns, turnarounds, commissioning, and startup activities.
- Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, operations, process, and automation personnel to resolve equipment problems.
- Follow preventive maintenance schedules and ensure assigned work is completed within required deadlines.
- Maintain calibration standards and test equipment in good working condition.
- Ensure calibration equipment remains within its required calibration period.
- Support root-cause analysis of recurring instrumentation failures and recommend preventive measures.
- Participate in equipment inspections, audits, reliability programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Follow procedures for hazardous-area instrumentation, equipment isolation, lockout/tagout, and permit-to-work systems.
- Comply with company health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
- Maintain good housekeeping and ensure tools, equipment, and work areas are safe and organized.
- Perform other instrumentation and control-related duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- Must have a valid passport for more than 3 years
- Employment certificates
- NBI clearance valid for at least 1 year with “no derogatory / no record on file” remarks
- PEOS certificate
