General Machinery Pte Ltd (GM Motors) is seeking experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanics to join its team in Fiji. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy diesel vehicles and equipment while ensuring maximum performance, reliability, and compliance with safety standards.
Heavy Diesel Mechanic
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic is required.
- Must have good English communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of automotive repair, diagnostics, preventive maintenance, hydraulics, electrical systems, and heavy diesel equipment.
- Experience in spare parts identification and maintenance procedures is an advantage.
- Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine-related faults in heavy diesel vehicles and equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance, servicing, and major repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, and other mechanical components.
- Inspect, test, and troubleshoot heavy equipment using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Repair and replace defective parts, components, and assemblies as required.
- Maintain hydraulic, electrical, fuel, cooling, steering, and suspension systems.
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure vehicles and equipment are operating safely and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate service records, repair reports, and maintenance documentation.
- Ensure proper use and care of workshop tools, equipment, and spare parts.
- Follow workplace safety procedures and manufacturer specifications during all maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with workshop supervisors and team members to complete repairs efficiently and minimize equipment downtime.
